PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Natalie, Vecepia, and Jenna were happy with their move, knowing that Michael, Alec, and Dan were tight, but their hopes of flushing an idol had failed. Alec still had an idol, and upon arriving at camp, Alec showed the three ladies saying “Listen, I couldn’t play it last time, but I will be playing it at the next tribal. So you should really come aboard and join me and Michael.” Michael didn’t like how Alec’s tone was coming across, but Natalie, Vecepia, and Jenna knew that maybe joining up again with them for the next vote would be smart because they didn’t wanna be on the receiving end of the vote if Alec were to play it. Richard, Courtney, and Yau felt like the entirety of the future of the game would rest on the three female winners, and Courtney decided to finally show Richard the idol as a form of trust and to show her that she wanted to go to the end with him. At the immunity challenge, they found out that whoever came in LAST place would immediately be sent home. This shook the contestants, but Courtney was most nervous, knowing she was the worst at challenges. The challenge was to stand on a wobbly log, first one in was out, last one standing won immunity. Richard was immediately wobbling, trying to talk some smack to the rest of the group trying to get them to fall. Natalie started to lose a bit of balance too, while Vecepia began to feel a bit dehydrated and dizzy. Vecepia fell out of nowhere, followed shortly by Richard and Natalie, then Michael, Yau, and Alec. The tribe who had fallen went to comfort Vecepia, who saw her Survivor journey end in the blink of an eye. Everyone applauded Vecepia as she made her way out, cheering on Jenna and Courtney, who were still duking it out. Vecepia was officially the fourth member of the jury. Courtney was amazed to be in the final two of any challenge, and dropped after losing a touch of balance. Jenna had won immunity! Back at camp, Jenna and Natalie cried about their close ally Vecepia, while Yau worried that his tie to the three girls was now tarnished, as Vecepia was his tightest ally in that group. “Now that we’re down to two, we really do hold a lot of power,” Jenna told Natalie. “We can either side with Alec and Michael who are certainly going to play an idol and secure our own safety,” Natalie said “or we side with Richard, Courtney, and Yau and just hope we pick the right person.” Jenna thought that siding with Richard, Courtney, and Yau made more sense in the long game, but she was worried that if they accidentally voted for the wrong person of Alec/Michael, they could play an idol and idol out Natalie. “You have nothing to worry about since you have immunity,” Natalie told Jenna, in which Jenna responded “exactly, so this is all up to you.” Richard, Courtney, and Yau felt good, and Richard told Natalie and Jenna that they had to go after Alec or Michael. “We can’t split it because there are only five of us and should we make the wrong move, we don’t want someone unpredictable like Courtney to flip,” Rich said. “We all have to be united.” Yau came into the conversation and recommended going for Michael. “Alec is going to play an idol for himself if he has one, he’s not going to risk it on his friend. We have to go for Michael.” Jenna and Natalie talked to Alec and Michael, and Alec said that Courtney was the least likely person to have an idol, so they should go after her. Michael agreed, saying that Yau was super smart and Richard was unpredictable. Jenna and Natalie knew they had all the power in their hands. At tribal council, Natalie said that a lot of risk was in her hands. “Jenna has immunity, Vecepia went home, so I’m vulnerable, and I’m the swing vote.” This worried Richard who said, “why a swing? I thought our plan was solid.” Natalie said that plans are always solid, but there’s always a small little piece of her that looks at every option. After the votes were tallied, Richard looked nervous. Reading off of Richard’s nerves, Courtney stood up and played her idol. “Bet y’all didn’t see this coming.” Michael and Alec looked panicked, and Alec stood up with his idol. “It’s either me or Michael. I hope they didn’t split the vote. I’m playing this for Michael.” The first two votes came in for Courtney, does not count. The NEXT two votes came in for Courtney, does not count. “Wow, you flipped,” Courtney said to Jenna and Natalie, who voted with Alec and Michael. Alec hoped that these next votes would be for Michael and that he’d make the right move. Next vote…Michael, does not count. Michael, does not count. Final vote, Michael does not count. Four votes Courtney, three votes Michael. None of them count. The contestants revoted. Michael and Courtney, because they used their idols, were still allowed to vote, but nobody was allowed to vote for Michael or Courtney or Jenna who all used or had immunity. When the votes were read again, Alec received three votes from Yau, Courtney, and Richard, and Richard received two votes from Alec and Michael. It was in Jenna and Natalie’s hands again, and they voted out Richard, making the first winner of the game the fifth juror after an EPIC tribal council.
