PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The twenty winners all met up to find out what teams they would be on. Cydney was excited to have a more competitive group of people to play with, since she was the only unanimous winner of the show’s history. Joel hoped that he would not be sluggish this time around. Andrea wanted to show that she could keep playing this game forever and do well every time. JT wanted to show that his win was not a fluke. Nemo wanted to show that the underdog could overcome anything, even winning Survivor twice. It was a pretty wide array of personalities, from Lincoln to Scarlet Witch, and Chaos Kass to the one and only Cirie. At two teams had to face off in an obstacle course to determine who would win first immunity. On Victory, Nemo knew he’d slow his team down, so he relied on Dylan to give him a boost. Alina and Joel, two Older Season winners, took the lead, with Cydney rearing the group, trying to help from the back end. On Team Triumph, Brenda and Marty were having communication issues, which already made Nadiya nervous, who tried to take the lead and lead the team to Triumph. Unfortunately, Victory seized the Victory, despite Nemo setting them back, and Triumph had to go to tribal council. At camp, Vanessa saw that Brenda and Marty were already clashing, and hoped to use that to her advantage. She knew that there were lots of non-Survivor players: Abe Lincoln, Wanda, Kirby, and herself, so she needed to try to find a split in the Survivors. She figured that Brenda, Andrea, and Cirie were going to work together and Nadiya, JT, and Marty were going to work together. Vanessa’s plan was to get the Brenda group to vote Marty and the Marty group to vote Brenda. Vanessa had sent Wanda to talk to Brenda and Abe to talk to Marty. They would then all join together to get rid of Cirie, who Vanessa thought was the biggest threat all around. Meanwhile, Vanessa had her own plan. She wanted to secure her safety, in case the Survivors did band together, and she went to search for an idol. She searched high and low, and saw it up in a tree that she couldn’t climb. While Abe and Wanda were doing their distractions, Vanessa had Kirby levitate himself up to grab the idol. Vanessa was happy to have the idol in her possession, and she and Kirby celebrated about it. Abe talked to Marty and told him that Brenda was causing issues in the challenge, and Marty seemed on board with voting for her, and told JT and Nadiya the plan. Nadiya liked Brenda, however, and didn’t know if this was the best move. Wanda talked to Brenda about blindsiding Marty. Brenda also loved the idea, and told Cirie, Andrea, and Nadiya. Nadiya told her that Abe had told Marty to gun for Brenda. Brenda then connected the dots that Abe and Wanda were trying to trick them, not knowing Vanessa was behind it all. She decided to gather up all the Survivors: Cirie, Nadiya, Andrea, JT, and Marty, to tell them that Abe and Wanda were tricking them, and figured Wanda was behind it. Marty said that he was willing to put differences aside, because Wanda posed a big threat in the long run anyway, being a superhero. “It’s almost an unfair advantage, to be completely honest,” Marty said. At tribal council, Vanessa was excited for her plan to go to motion. Cirie said that many people felt safe because they had won the game before, but to always expect the unexpected. Vanessa joked that Big Brother’s mindset applied beautifully to Survivor. Brenda then said that it was hard to know who to trust, and usually, people would base their vote on the challenge strength. Vanessa saw her plan coming together, and confidently voted for Cirie. When the votes were read, however, Vanessa was shocked when Wanda had received votes from Marty and Brenda. The four votes from Kirby, Abe, Wanda, and Vanessa went to Cirie, but the rest of the votes came in for Wanda, and she was sent packing. Shocked and blindsided, Wanda left tribal, knowing she would have to rest her legacy on her first win two seasons ago. Vanessa was shocked, but didn’t want to give up, knowing she had an idol up her sleeve.
