The Racism Needs to Stop

1stAug 7, 2019 by SmoothStalker12
Hello TG,

I just wanted to address something that bothered me yesterday, and now even more today: how hypocritical TG is in regard to racism.

Here is what I mean: For the past few seasons of Big Brother, we have been exposed to houseguests making racist comments about their fellow housemates. When this info is given to the public, they instantly face backlash and have even lost their jobs in the past (BB15). We see blogs on here calling them out and disliking them.

However, when someone on this site makes a racist remark, it is talked about for an hour, or even a day, and is forgotten. Could you imagine a BB houseguest talking about how they agree with Hitler or tell someone with a Middle Eastern descent to “go blow something up”? They’d be facing so much backlash, but it’s just another day here on TG.

And before you say, “BB houseguests are on national TV, they should know better and deserve more hate”, I have to disagree. Nobody should speak so derogatorily toward other human beings, No matter if two people hear it or thousands hear it, it’s still racist and we should all know better. I don’t care if “you would never say these things irl”, you’re still saying them to someone online who has feelings & emotions and has likely heard racial slurs like this before. It doesn’t make racist remarks “acceptable” if you’re saying them online or in front of a small group.

Lastly, it’s ridiculous & embarrassing to see how fast some people here are so ready to jump to racist remarks when they are in an argument. What would your friends and family say if they saw you speaking like this? Are you truly that illogical you can’t think of a proper response, so you resort to racial remarks? This isn’t just about GentlemanG and Blitszims, I’ve seen at least a dozen other TGers make remarks just as bad as their's.

I know this likely means very little coming from a white male like myself, but I’ve seen & heard my friend Fighterman get called terrible things for years now. I don’t care if you dislike a person, it doesn’t give you an excuse to make racist remarks toward them. Idc if there isn't a mod to punish you for it, you should just know to not do it...

I mean I definitely agree with this but sadly, for some people, throwing hurtful offensive words around means nothing, and it's like... how do you get these people to not say those things

this was kind of a waste of your time tbh, people gonna resort to that kind of behavior, regardless if they're racist or not, bc it gives them attention, and that's all people want.

Respect for trying tho!

You live in Lala land. Where everyone agrees with each other and nobody criticizes any bodies shitty opinions.

Reality is you’re never going to change a persons core value system so as long as the level of pride of said person extends beyond the boundaries reached.

racism and illness shaming should stop honestly. I see ppl throwing the r word around quite often or cancer/hiv shaming too and its really pathetic and sad. And you dont have to have a friend or a relative with said illness or syndrome to empathize, its just common sense, goddamnit.

It just shows how entitled and privileged you feel towards others instead of lifting ppl up. But again, its tengaged so expect shitty people to do these things.

Tbh racism and sexism will never fully come to an end in this terrible world; there will always be people who make racial/sexual slurs, that's the fallout of having free speech. But we on Tengaged can set an example, a haven for inclusiveness and acceptance. We are better than people who make these kinds of remarks, so before writing, saying anything think is this inclusive is this nice or necessary.

I am sick of hearing people tweeting things that someone said that was racist or sexist. Don't give the people any attention.

We live in a society where there's free speech, and sadly that includes hate speech. We can't censor someone's thoughts, because that would make us just as bad as them. We need to push for equality, but that doesn't mean giving attention to racists; nor does shaming them for their thoughts.

I also want to shout out to the feminists! Keep on pushing for equal pay! Sadly, we live in a mans world alongside capitalism. We will always be at the mercy of our employers, but keep on going women! You can do it, and I believe in you
