I smoke it occasionally but these are all valid points.. the things I hate the most is the state it puts you in unless you've planned for it.. like when i get a call from a friend to to do something but I'm too CBA to move :/ also I get angry at myself next day when I realise I just ate like a week's worth of food in 1 night it's depressing and defo waste of money I only do it like once a month ish now
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have always wanted to convince people not to do it, but I knew it had to come out of someone who actually has tried it/used it for a long time (so people couldn't use "u didnt try it so u cant judge" shitty reason).
Hmm, my comment didn’t come from “lack of knowledge”. I was/am not a BIG smoker, but i do know a lot about the affects, long and short term.
1. This will differ person to person. My mom and sister have anxiety, and weed helps them with that. They both have been smoking for years. So as stated before, this differs.
2. I don’t smoke much, so this isn’t a big issue for me. It really isn’t an issue if you can help yourself, which most the people i know can. So this is on each individual person. Budget.
3. I’m not even going to comment on this.
4. Valid point, but not a good enough one to back up all of the lackluster ones.
5. Back to money.
6. Hmmm, when i smoke i don’t use tobacco. Once again, this only affects a percentage of smokers.
7. Another good point.
8. I don’t really know anyone who has gained weight since starting to smoke lmao. I do know people do, but i don’t know anyone who is affected this way.
9. Be responsible. Alcohol does this. Know when it’s appropriate to smoke and when it isn’t.
10. See 9.
As you stated yourself, i also mean no disrespect but i still don’t see a strong argument here. I respect that you decided to quit, but i don’t think there are more benefits to quilting than there are to not. Just me.
I know hella people who smoke A LOT, and like your friends agree with you, these people would agree with me. I guess it depends on who it is you ask.
-Tobacco. I guess this one isn't a problem for everyone if you're using vapes and stuff but they are bloody expensive. If you're smoking joints like most people do (honestly blunts just don't taste right) then you're putting tobacco into it too and we all know how bad tobacco is for your lungs and the rest of your body.
Vaping is much cheaper than buying cigarettes. I've used both in the past and spend maybe $50 a month on a much better flavor vaping than smoking cigarettes which were over $200 a month.
I haven't smoked weed in a while but a lot of these points aren't true. I graduated summa cum laude from uni with my degree in molecular biology but I would smoke before every exam. I've never been fat, lazy or idiotic.
jkjkjk15 Lets be real hunny, 90% of these people don't get Weed via being prescribed by a doctor. It's still "degrading" in my eyes, you can see it differently. Cigarettes + Alcohol are things you can get without being prescribed, so it ain't given a bad reputation by people.
Thank you for sharing this! I don’t smoke nor have I ever smoked and I never will. But I see that way too many young people smoke (not just occasionally but on a daily basis) and it hurts my eyes to watch. Read & learn!
Kandee_ You failed to get my point. I don’t care how people get it. It helps, and your ignorance about the subject is deafening. But yes, continue to look down upon people who smoke weed. Just realize, alcohol and cigarettes kill people, marijuana does not.
As far as anxiety goes it definitely varies from person to person. I have pretty severe anxiety and I benefit a lot from smoking. I’d much rather smoke weed than take Xanax, SSRI drugs, etc. Clearly it can be different for different people but it can definitely prove to be a better alternative to some other drugs.
Totally agree with your argument on cost and addiction tho. There are definitely pros and cons!
i've never been super into weed but i agree with all your points.
I think most drugs are good in moderation, when it becomes a daily habit, then there's a problem
Idiocy resonates with me the most - i never smoke weed anymore because it makes me feel so dumb, like my IQ just halved and my brain is melting away, i hate that feeling so much. Other drugs make me feel like my IQ doubled and that my brain is working overtime, but weed just makes me feel so stupid
people are gonna argue against this blog because they want to look cool on tengaged when IRL they probably had a puff of weed at a party once in their life and now think they are super into weed lol
another reason not to smoke as well is it makes you look fuckin dumb when you're talking to someone who isn't high. maybe just the effect it has on me, i know it makes some people super creative but for me it turns me into a potato
-Laziness. All you want to do while smoking weed is sit around doing next to nothing or sleep. Anything you need to get done, will not get done. You will take 3 hour naps throughout the day and then sleep through the night. It got to the point where I was like what's the point in even being high if I'm not even awake to feel it.
This also happens when you get old.
Glad you’re making changes to better yourself sexgoddx
Awe sexgoddx ur an icon. But you need to remember weed works differently for everyone. If it's not for you, and made you feel that way (anxiety and stuff) then I'm proud of you for quitting. Personally, I'm not a fan of Marijuana it just doesn't do it for me either.
SexGoddx the initial cost to buy a device can vary ($50 to a few hundred) but the liquid is super cheap and they come in every flavor you can imagine. My favorites are blueberry and mint chocolate! Most of them are made with less than 5 natural ingredients, contain no tar (so no risk of cancer/second hand smoke/smelling bad) and still provide a good hit.
xShift I'm glad. I actually started smoking in hope of helping my anxiety too but I ended up with the opposite effect, as did everyone around me. I wonder perhaps if in places where it is legal it's easier to get hold of the right kinds of weed for anxiety.
As others have said, the effects vary person to person. I do think you have good points, but a lot of them are different depending on who you talk to.
For me personally, the main issue was money, and it's really the only reason that I did end up quitting. I was a daily smoker for about 6+ years without tolerance breaks, so between needing more to get the same high and blunts/wraps, it was too much of a financial burden to continue. Other than that, the positives outweighed the negatives for me. My social/general anxiety was much better controlled (though, I do know some people that get incredibly paranoid and a heightened sense of anxiety from it). I have stomach issues that cause nausea/general pain/lack of appetite that were greatly improved from it, and believe it or not, my blood sugars as a diabetic were controlled better because my stress levels were much lower. I was actually more motivated to get shit done, as my anxiety wasn't holding me back as much. As far as making me dumb is concerned, I'm a creative, and a lot of my best ideas/writing/graphic design came during that time.
I do agree that the mental addiction is quite real, but I've known daily smokers that had no issues taking tolerance breaks and quitting all together. Someone with a more addictive personality seems more likely to fall into that trap. For me, it's something that worked better than antidepressants/Benzos, and has far less side effects and risk of scary withdrawal symptoms. Tobacco usage is another fair point, but as others have hit on, there are ways around that.
TLDR; The original comment that sparked this topic (not understanding why someone would quit) isn't exactly fair. I respect your views on it based on your own experiences, but it's not the same for everyone. I don't advocate for it or against it if someone asks me if they should try it or not, as it is NOT for everyone, but share my experiences with it as well as ones I've heard from other smokers. Respect to you for quitting when you realized it was doing you more harm than good.
i think this is a great blog and every voice deserves to be heard. reading over the comments, obviously individuals have their own opinions and won't agree with the points in this blog. you expressed yourself and shared a bit of knowledge with those that don't know much or just have preconceived notions about weed. i smoked a handful of times back in college (over 10 years ago). in recent years i've thought about buying some to help with anxiety but have decided to avoid it for many of the reasons you've stated.
we all have our own opinions and should learn to respect those of others. if we were all like minded, the world would be boring :p i don't think you were trying to have a debate ensue and appreciate you opening up!
I can understand what you mean sexgoddx, I’ve started smoking occasionally 2 summers ago, and pretty much daily for the past year/year and half, taking a couple of 1 week T breaks). It’s usually just something that I do when I’m home doing my chores, watching a movie or with a friend. (Of course I don’t drive stoned/go to work), I work 2 days 2 overnights a week, easily helps me personally adjust to a sleeping pattern, without being asleep all the time.
I used to be full of anxiety, couldn’t barely even talk with anyone without freezing up, however to this day since the day I’ve started smoking weed, get stuck in a room with me in public and I won’t shut up.
Money. You have to budget, I usually go through an ounce a week, but at least it’s cheaper than buying in small amounts each day.
Addiction. Yeah I smoked enough of it, but had no issues taking those T breaks. (But I smoke cigarettes too).
High fades. Came to points where you smoke so much that build full tollerence to it, it’s where you slow down and take a little break, and you’ll pretty much refresh lol.
Depending on the day I’ll mix tobacco with my weed, but I started smoking bong and that’s what I use on the daily.
Fat. I didn’t gain weight, however I started working out at the gym and maintained a pretty healthy diet, so I actually lost fat. 😅
Idiocy. Yes, there’s been many times where I’ve been unable to form sentences, but it’s an after work thing anyway haha
Laziness. It did make me lazy but it overall made me a very chill person, not sure if it’s a good or bad thing, but I have no problems getting things done stoned or not. + Weeds great for sex. :P
As blogs said though, there’s times where I feel like my brain is melting and i just feel so dumb, like my brains all fogged up, it’s nice to take a little break occasionally.
Of course this is entirely all my personal experience and opinions and everyones will be different, however if you budget how you buy and how you smoke, medical or not, you decide what you like or don’t like.
Was interested in knowing others views on weed here.
sexgoddx i was high nearly every night of TBB2 it was like to the point where it was bad. shortyl after it finished i joined a gym, quit fast food, quit smoking weed (i do it like once a month MAX on special occasions) and i feel fucking fantastic now. im looking and feeling so much better. so i know exactly how you feel too. good job mal proud of you
SexGoddx Idk I feel like reading this there’s a lot of truth to it but there’s also a lot of case by case stuff where it works for some people and not for you. Like I have a high metabolism so I can snack a lot from munchies and not gain weight, and it helps a lot with my anxiety and insomnia which is primarily what I use it for. It’s definitely not for everyone but I feel like I am somebody who it works for and I guess it just doesn’t for you. The drawbacks like feeling like an idiot don’t really bother me since I stumble over words sober anyways, and it’s not too expensive a hobby for me since in a week I probably smoke like 4 bowls off a bong so what you smoke in a day is what I smoke in a week.
Eyoomarcus Yeah but when you smoke like legit constantly all throughout the day you have to brush your teeth more often cuz the smoke tar sticks to it.
If I don't brush my teeth at least 3x a day I notice a difference
Gaiaphagee Well I smoke it in my house so not really hun, but yes obviously I have anxiety to begin with which is why I'm recommending people with anxiety not to smoke it. Obviously you put tobacco in joints SMH. And yeah my mistake... must've been accidentally injecting heroin.
gaiaphagee ok most of what u said is genuinely DUMB AS SHIT so don't call my friend @segoddx dumb when you don't know the shit you're taking about you mid smoking redneck.
I smoke more than literally anyone I know on this site and everything except for night sweats is true. Weed does make your teeth more yellow if you smoke a shit ton, I always have to brush my teeth at least 3x or a change will be noticed.
