Chris grew up in the suburbs of District 1. A place with blue houses with white picket fences, where nothing seems to go wrong and it's paradise (I mean hell) on Earth. No wonder Chris became a brutal killer! In training, Chris got a big reputation, as she shows no mercy. In the controversial "Skinning Animals" class, Chris never held back, skinning everything from a rat to a goat while it's still alive. In his small suburban neighbourhood, Chris often acted up, famously throwing a trash can through his neighbour's window
Chris quickly became a favourite when the list of potential tributes taking part in the selection was revealed. This year hit a record high in 20 years with over 110 boys alone hoping to represent District 1. As expected, Chris had no problems navigating his way through to the live televised rounds and remained at the top of the betting odds. He got a top 3 position every round up until the final three, where the competition truly got tough. It was a brutal hour-long battle between Chris and his competitors in one of the tensest finales seen so far in District 1, but Chris eventually came out victorious, earning himself a spot as a tribute for District 1
Strangely, unlike the male pool, the female pool fell to a record low in 20 years, with just 49 girls participating. It's believed that this may be due to the budget cuts across the District, with some training center's budget being cut by almost 50%. This meant many training academies had to choose wisely where to spend their budget, with female training being the most affected area. Many riots shot up through the District after this, believing training should be equal for both genders. Molly was seen as a big activist in this campaign
Due to the reduced amount of potential tributes, the selection seemed to get softer, with fewer tributes being eliminated each round, and the rounds in question being much easier. A select group of five tributes dominated the early game. Molly wasn't one of them, being ranked 11th in the betting odds. Her odds soon grew as it became apparent she was a front runner, soon getting to the Top 10. Here, she seemed to slow down, scraping through these rounds all the way to the finale. Molly was against two strong competitors, but she ultimately overpowered them on the gauntlet, winning the selection
Trinian hails from the upper-class area of District 2. His parents work in a nearby training academy, which he attends. Trinian quickly excelled in training, likely thanks to extra training at home, and quickly became the best in his class, even moving up two years to the 16-year-old classes
It's believed that the format change in District 2 allowed younger tributes to perform better. For the first time ever, tributes were split into their age groups to compete, with the top 10 best performers of each age being selected to compete. The format would also change so that the top 2 in each age got into the semi-final, meanwhile, 3rd and 4th got into a second chance bracket, and the remaining six were eliminated. Trinian easily flew into the top 2 for his age, advancing to the semi-final. In the semi-final, the age groups were abolished and it became a free-for-all. Ethan ended up getting all the way to the final, however, the betting odds were against him. Through a stroke of luck or a miracle, Trinian managed to win despite being against two 18-year-olds, thus getting him a spot in the games
Onika grew up in the outer reaches of District 2, in the border very close to the capitol. This area was a gateway for importing goods around the District, but not an area heavily styled towards training. This meant Onika trained in her own time, putting herself forward for the previous three games, but going out early each time
Onika qualified in her age bracket in 9th, barely scraping in. She then placed 4th, having to go to the Second Chance round. Here, she once again barely scraped through, placing 4th again, the minimum needed to advance. She had made it to the Semi-Final, but this was the hardest part of the games, with 16 people competing for just 3 spots in the final. Onika instantly struggled, placed just 15th in the betting odds. She battled her way through the mega gauntlet, the semi-final round, somehow managing to finish in 3rd after she discovered a shortcut built into the course. This sparked controversy, with many noting that she would have taken 8th if it wasn't for this shortcut. This led to Onika being unpopular in the final, but she still pushed through, her small and agile frame pushing through the final obstacle course. It was looking like another girl, Peace, was going to win, however, fell on the very last obstacle, meanwhile, the third opponent struggled at the half-way mark. Onika jumped at the chance, winning the gauntlet, and a spot in the 98th Hunger Games
