Josh is a celebrity in the District, and even further along. His mother won "Melfest 72", a singing competition held in the Capitol where each district sent a representative to sing for them. This was District 9's first win in almost 50 years, the song she covered in the final: "Fields of Gold" soon became the anthem for District 9, and eventually the mayor made it the official song for the District
At the reaping, there were cries throughout the reapings as Josh was called. His parents instantly started to protest, as did many of the citizens. Josh made a break for it in the carnage, Peacekeepers quickly tracking him down as he fled over the same fence into the field Issy did the previous year, ducking down. Peacekeepers fired blind shots, but it was clear some seemingly wanted him to escape. These Peacekeepers that didn't shoot were quickly dealt with. The crowd cheered as Josh disappeared, however, the head Peacekeeper grabbed Josh's mother, Megan, and held a gun to her head, stating that if the citizens of 9 didn't find Josh in 24 hours, his mother would die. This was broadcast across the District, with many instantly wanting to save Megan. Josh didn't get much further, as he swiftly escaped the field and found himself looking through the window of a nearby house to see his mother, a gun to her head. Josh swiftly surrendered after that
Nobody speaks to Lindsey. Nobody approaches Lindsey. Nobody even speaks when she's around. Why is this? Lindsey is the daughter of a serial killer- Silo Grainsville, or the Grim Reaper. He killed seven people, including a pregnant woman and a five-year-old boy. His final victim was Lindsey's mother, who he murdered when Lindsey was 5. He tried to take Lindsey with him, but she screamed, alerting Peacekeepers and forcing Silo to flee. Many searched were conducted around 9 and in the area surrounding it, but Silo was never found
As Lindsey grew up, many mocked her, others were frightened of her. This meant that when her name was called at the reaping, a wave of relief seemed to fall over many people who were worried she would follow in her father's footsteps, however, others fear she will win the games and return to District 9 with a thirt for blood
Reef states his diet is "Carnivorous". He grew up in the outer areas of District 10, where vegetables are sparse, and often the only thing to eat is meat and animal products. This area's income also solely relies on animal products. Because of this, Reff doesn't get in with his District partner, Sadhbh
When his name was called, Reef acted stunned as the Peacekeepers quickly found him. As just about everyone knows, being picked for the Games in District 10 was more than just a death sentence; it was preserved embarrassment for either being dressed as a cow or dying first forever
Sadhbh has been a strict vegan all her life. This has been a struggle for her and her family, who are of the "Samba faith", an ethnic minority that is often blamed for terrorist attacks, despite being proven to be a peaceful religion. Particularly in the winter, Sadhbh's family barely scrapes by on the few vegetables that they can get in District 10
Massive fights have since been heard breaking out from the District 10 room between Sadhbh, Reef, and their stylist, with the stylist wishing to dress the pair in a cow costume, made with the skin of real cows. Sadhbh has refused to wear this outfit, stating that it goes against her morals, but her stylist has replied that in the arena there are no morals so it's best to drop them now. The avox has requested Peacekeeper assistance a few times after items were thrown, which commonly ended in Sadhbh running out of the room in tears. It is currently undisputed on what the District 10 costume will be, however, Sadhbh seems to be on the losing side
Thank you for still being here <3 we have only District 11 and 12 to go, and then...the games will officially begin (After a quick episode on the setup. This season, the tribute parade will be the main event, with the tributes getting to see how the public reacts to them for the first time)
Additionally, I can confirm that the Capitol's Assassin will be kept secret through the season, with the tribute having to sneak away from their allies, assuming they have some, in order to become the assassin! It's gonna be a fun ride!
