Treeko lives and works in a rural area of District 7. There's a small community of fewer than 100 people. Treeko's family has lived on the land for as long as anyone can remember. From a young age, Treeko showed potential with the axe, quickly joining his father at work when he was 12
When Treeko's name was called, his parents desperately protested, however, there was nobody there to volunteer for Treeko. Many didn't know who he was, so he managed to hide, but was very quickly identified and taken to the stage. In his final speech, he said goodbye to his parents and Mrs McGreen, the old woman that lived next door, before being led away
Chryssie is the daughter of the deputy-mayor of District 7. From a young age, she took an interest in her father's work as Deputy-Mayor and started studying politics in her own time. Chryssie planned on becoming a politician for a long time, but her father constantly told her that there wasn't a future in politics for the District, especially after the huge pay cuts that happened the previous year. Chryssie still had her heart set on being in politics though
The "Fall Guys" company had a large presence in District 7, however, it was seen distasteful for the leaders of the district to use this service, especially considering how they pushed the Hunger Games as a good thing, in hopes of being promoted like District 6 was into being a career district. The public certainly didn't side with the mayor, still not wanting to participate. When Chryssie was called, she looked like she'd been hit with a tree, however, she soon got over her shock, bravely marching up the stairs. In her speech, she stated that she wished the District well, and if she ever came back, that it was in her best interest to make the people of the district happy
Hoop, just like Vanessa the previous year, is a descendant of a District 13 citizen. His parents weren't executed but were placed into the hardest job in District 8: The President's Clothing. One mistake in this room would have you fired and disappear down a black hole. Hoop's parents, in particular, had to make her swimwear for when she goes on vacation to far off lands known as "Egypt, Mexico and Portugal" which nobody has actually heard of and probably don't exist
For every reaping, Hoop's parents warned him that he was likely to be reaped soon, whether it was this one or the next one- as almost every year there was one District 13 descendant that went into the games. Unfortunately for Hoop, this was his year, and as his name was called, it seemed he went through the 5 stages of grief in a matter of seconds, before slowly walking up to the stage. In his final speech, he joked about how the president would thank his family later for "Pure comfort as she swims". Nobody laughed
In the worst stroke of luck possibly ever seen, the reaping happened on Stitch's 12th birthday...and she was picked. This made Stitch the tied youngest tribute to ever enter the arena. When her name was picked, she started loudly crying, instantly alerting the Peacekeepers to her location. In under a minute, she was carried to the stage, although she almost managed to wiggle from their grip a number of times. In her speech, she just cried into the microphone
