I know there are more negative experiences for subs. I had to move far from the school I am a long-term sub for. While I packed my last box, I got this email from a student and made me cry how much impact I had on you kids for the past 6 months. This is why most of us teach and come to the classroom everyday. I feel like Mr. Feeny from Boy Meet World when he says “I love you all. Class Dismissed”.
Some context, a student was going through a hard time and talked to her counselor to get her mom to consent to therapy since she was comfortable being open about being stressed and wanting someone to talk to. My first-year teaching and I am already a great educator 🥺.
I been MIA because I was a long term sub for Spanish for 3 weeks, 8th grade History/Science for 1 month, and a Biology/Environmental Science for 3 months. I might play a casting soon who knows haha. What have I missed?
My hunger game project. Just curious whether I should have it where if you die you must start the entire game over or from a certain point before being killed in a battle? What are your thoughts?
Some updates:
I’m still subbing middle and high school. Got offered a long-term opportunity. I’m officially starting my 6th degree to teach Earth Science in high school (masters of arts in teaching). I got a new boyfriend (he literally flew from Maryland to California to spend Halloween weekend with me). Life has been great lately!
