I understand the sentiment but I think there can be good in celebrating where you鈥檙e from. As long as you鈥檙e individually doing the best you personally can to make a change around you everyday and being able to have that opportunity where you live, I think you can celebrate that
Obviously there are going to be ppl who will be celebrating for non-ideal reasons but I don鈥檛 necessarily feel like just bc you do celebrate your country means you鈥檙e for everything that鈥檚 been voted or passed in legislation
It's not about what has been passed in legislation @sjcsoccer88 , it is about the genocidal atrocities that continue to be uncovered from the not-so-distant past, and exist currently under CFS and generational trauma.
Again, you can choose to not partake and stay at home and be upset. And it鈥檚 the same in the USA. Attending rallies, donating to specific causes, spreading awareness of issues, bettering yourself personally are all positive steps and I do think it鈥檚 possible for people to be proud of who they are and what they embrace and also celebrate where they live.
You may not see it that way, but with how upsetting life is, I personally choose to celebrate any occasion I can whether it鈥檚 for myself or for someone close to me or something I care about.
I鈥檓 not going to be going down the street waving an American flag but at the same time, I will be grilling out food with friends who see the same way I do and celebrating the steps that have been made
