Until Dawn Character Rankings - #5

Now it seems borderline blasphemous to have a character that you literally never get to play as, this high up in the rankings, but hear me out. Hannah, is the STAR of the entire game. Think about it, nothing in this game would have happened if she weren’t so god damn GULLIBLE, and unlike Beth, she doesn’t disappear halfway through the game. She’s present from the time Jess & Mike are exiled to the time the house erupts in flame at the end of the game.

Had Hannah died in the fall, she’d most likely be #11, with Beth following at #10. However, it’s her transformation into a Wendigo that gives her a higher placing on this list. Hannah had the willpower to survive the fall. Not only did she have a broken leg, but she had the mental trip that her twin sister was dead, and it was all her fault. But, she was stronger than that, didn’t give up hope. Did what she needed to do to survive, but unfortunately she didn’t make it out alive, she made it out a wendigo.

Now, quite a few assumptions can be made here based on the journal flamethrower guy left behind, and based on the way Hannah treats Josh, if recognized. My theory is that Hannah is not entirely Wendigo yet, while her appearance definitely matches that of a Wendigo, there were several occasions where Hannah showed restraint in her killings. We can safely assume that Hannah is the Wendigo that followed Mike and Jess up to the cabin, and dragged Jess out of the cabin. Based on Hannah’s obsession with Mike. At several points along their JOURNEY up to the Cabin, this Wendigo pops out at them, choosing to sate it’s hunger with a deer instead. We saw it in the telescope, and we saw it spying on Mike and Jess when they finally arrived at the cabin. When Mike finds where the Wendigo left Jessica, if Mike took too long, Hannah had given up hope, and just killed Jessica, instead of waiting to bring mike the pain of watching her fall to her death. If Mike gets there fast enough to find Jessica alive, Hannah cuts the elevator cords, and watches, rather sadistically, as Mike screams for Jessica. Josh also has the opportunity to recognize Hannah, if he does, Hannah is pleased, and spares his life, feeding him portions of the flamethrower man’s body, if he does not, Hannah is filled with rage that his brother doesn’t recognize her, and crushes his head.

In conclusion, Hannah is either not fully transformed to where she isn’t at all human, OR, Wendigo in general can still recognize other humans, but the wendigo on the mountain are so old that there would be nobody to recognize.

Anyways, Hannah is this high on the list for this exact reason, there’s so much interesting speculation to be done with her character. While she may be a naive little bitch. She’s a vindictive, naive little bitch with a knack for human flesh.

I don’t even think she talked for the entirety of the prologue other than to respond to Beth in one or two words. However her journal entry was pretty iconic;

“HUNGER HUNGRY HUNGER”

Meh. I get that she’s above Beth. I liked Beth more but Hannah was a central part to the game
