Seeing the responses from the last post, I think I’m gonna get some hate over this one, but hear me out.
Again, suffers from the same thing that Chris does; a lack of interesting character development. While she is according to the wikia, one of the most playable characters (4th place), I don’t feel like anything I’ve done with her matters. When you get the option to stab Josh with the scissors, she gets captured either decision you make! Unlike when Sam gets the cut on her forehead, it makes no difference in the story when Ashley gets the black eye. Hell, the wikia for her character is even fully fucked up, completely wrong, and nobody has cared enough about her to fix it.
Worst of all, she’s a coward. Not just shy, not just quirky, a full on coward. Unable to make a move on Chris, unable to stand up to Emily when she smacks the shit out of her, unable to follow up with an attack or an escape on the psycho when she stabs him, unable to do literally anything on her own, constantly needing validation from her fellow survivors, like with the manhole cover. The weird thing about Ashley, is that the one time she can choose to deviate from her normal and do something against the grain, she gets her own head ripped off by a wendigo in the mines, when she thinks Jessica is calling out to her.
The only saving grace that put her above Chris is her interesting twist of events that happens if little Miss Ashley decides she doesn't like Chris. If Chris decides to kill Ashley in either scenario with the psycho, Ashley will leave Chris outside to die while the wendigo is chasing him down. Ashley stares at him, and watches the wendigo rip his head off. Her expression unchanged.
In the development of the game, Ashley was supposed to be written as a drug addict who ran around like she was in an Agatha Christie novel, UNFORTUNATELY that was scrapped early on. I think she would have been more interesting had this been the case. I did save her in my first playthrough of the game though. Good on me!
Another filler character, unfortunately. Not many memorable lines, but here’s my favorite;
"You were looking at your phone, you dip! What are you tweeting!? 'Hashtag there's a freaking ghost after us?!'"
