The interviews that the actors did to promote the video game push this weird quirky nerdy guy that his friends embrace, but unfortunately the only time I ever got quirky and nerdy was when he complained about cell service, which multiple other characters did, Jess & Emily both come to mind. You can’t just slap a pair of glasses on someone and call them nerdy, that just means they’re blind..
While he may be the most played character throughout the game, he seems more like a tutorial character, showing you how to shoot things, and how little itty bitty actions cause changes in relationships, and in some future actions. His only interesting scenes are brought about by his death, and is always caused by another character. He seems to almost exist parallel to the storyline and not necessarily integrated into it as well as it could have. He doesn’t have any choices that he makes that could kill another player, nor does he have any choices that impact the game, other than whether HE survives until dawn or not.
As far as Ashley is concerned; Chris is the only character in the game to not mention their significant other in the post game Police Interviews, you’d think if she saved your life, one time directly, one time indirectly, it would be a major detail, but nope. Chris doesn’t truly care about Ashley. Honestly, a tragedy.
It also really bothers me that he has so many opportunities to be defensive and almost inflammatory about the prank they played rather than being apologetic and shameful.
Damn Chris, you’re one son of a bitch. For the record, Chris ended up dying in my first playthrough because I had failed the quicktime events while he was running towards the cabin after watching Flamethrower guy get decapitated.
I’d add a quote section here, but he honestly only has one interesting one;
