Today I got rejected from an APPRENTICESHIP position for a travel company I wanted to work for. Many applied for it and others skills ‘more closely met criteria’... WHAT criteria? School leavers do apprenticeships LOL, sorry if my 2 travel and tourism A levels, degree and six years experience in sales/customer service aren’t enough for you, cryin. 😭

It’s not all doom and gloom though, I have a preliminary, group interview for another firm on Monday. Hope something comes out of it, I want to be a travel consultant so baddd, it hurts my damn heart!

They just didn't like the way you look.

PrincessTeePee sweetheart I feel your pain in the opposite direction. I have no formal work experience and despite getting interviews, I feel like i miss out to more qualified people. I've actually made it a point to address my lack of formal work experience in cover letters because it's such an easy write off...

no job without experience yet no experience without a job

Maybe they saw you as too qualified.
Gl! :)

Try McDonald's, Anas. And I'm not being cheeky or rude.

Loopspeare you've suggested me this before lol, I've seen people ik work there and i don't think i'm prepared for such a fast paced, erratic working environment like Maccy D's on a saturday, not as a first job anyway.

you'll get there babe

good luck in your next interview TP

and blitszims is probably right, they probably know that you are too qualified for the job which scares them because you are more likely to jump ship as soon as a better position turns up elsewhere!

i want to work in a travel agent too, you are far more qualified than me! i think you don't need to apply for the apprenticeship go for the entry level positions, from my interviews i've had with travel agents, they are more concerned with sales experience, which i have very little of

i wasn't successful on my job interview on monday but too be fair i was definitely punching, everyone else at the interview was far more qualified than me but i walked away feeling good that they even considered me

hope you find something that you enjoy soon, and hope the same for me!! it's such a drag

Blogs I’ve never even had an interview :( the WORST thing is when they send a positive response and then either nothing, or a knock back two months later... or they just ignore you entirely. It’s super draining :/

Wish you all the luck in the world though 💚
