So Jordan went home, which I’m not too bummed about, and saw coming a bit, albeit ranking the entire red team in the top 4. This was a fairly smooth service all in all, with only a few minor speed bumps.
6. Amber Lancaster- Amber was nominated for good reason. She really just isn’t a very good team player, as good of a chef as she is. Next week, we’ll likely see who gets a black jacket, and of all the chefs left, I really don’t see Amber making it. She’s just been too inconsistent, especially later in the season.
5. Declan Horgan- Declan continues to have communication issues. I worry that as the numbers are dwindling, some of Declan’s weaknesses are becoming more and more noticeable. He didn’t do anything terribly wrong, but he also didn’t command the station like I believe they wanted him to.
4. Nikki Hanna- After such a successful night last week, Nikki did falter a tad bit this week. She did forget a few plates for the celebrity table, which is never a great look. That being said, her cooking ability is still there, and she does quickly fix her mistakes. The only hesitations I have with Nikki headed into next week are that she is inexperienced, and black jackets is a huge step up. I think Nikki will be the dark horse that we don’t see coming, and she’ll snag one, especially given how Amber and Declan have been performing. But again, if we’re going strictly on who is “ready” for a head chef position, Nikki is obviously the least experienced, and that could be a determining factor.
3. Mary Lou Davis- Poor Mary Lou lost the challenge for her team and actually let it influence her overall mindset. That being said, she did bounce back in service and I don’t think she did a bad job at all.
2. Cody Candelario- Another challenge won by Cody. Cody is the king of challenges, even if his services are sometimes hit or miss. Cody was really good in this episode and definitely bounced back from near the bottom where he’s been on the rankings for a few weeks.
1. Kori Sutton- Kori was great once again, not putting up a bad dish at all. Sometimes I forget she’s there because she really doesn’t miss much in services at all, so there’s not a ton of attention on her. While not the flashiest success of the night, there’s no reason anyone else should be number one over her tonight.
It’s really hard this late in the game to separate the cooks from the chefs, as they are all good in some respect. I think Amber and Declan are lower on the list for the sake of having issues outside of the cooking itself. In this competition, cooking is only half of it, so I think they are the most vulnerable headed into next week.
