The Amazing Race S32 Power Rankings (Finals)
Dec 16, 2020
- This is the hardest finale to talk about because I think all three of the final teams are incredibly strong, but I am also struggling between edit and previous legs. The thing is, Riley & Maddison have won the most legs, but a lot of them have been because Will & James or Hung & Chee gave them the answers. Hung & Chee have been in 3rd or 4th since week 6, but I do think they have also been instrumental in helping the alliance, and usually have the smarts to figure out some of the clues that the other teams don’t. And Will & James are the ones who started the alliance, which has been the focus of the season, and they have the edit to back them up. It’s going to be incredibly difficult to rank. If I’m going on my heart, I want Hung & Chee because they were my pre-season winner picks, but for the purposes of this list, I’ll pick the team I think will win.
3. Riley & Maddison- Riley & Maddison have been the most consistent team, placing 1st four times, and not being any lower than 2nd since week 4. That being said, a lot of the times they’ve won, they’ve started the legs slower and gotten help from the alliance. They happened to be the ones to guess correctly in the last part of the Philippines leg, which put them in first, but only because the boyfriends told them to order them a certain way. Past legs don’t matter in this leg. And for that, I do think Will & James and Hung & Chee have the edge simply being better racers overall. The Volleyball guys are great, but usually need a push from another team to do well, and they won’t be able to get that help this leg. I think stats tell me to place them first, but their edit has been the least character based (especially next to Hung & Chee’s arc of communication and Will & James’ obvious arc of love for the race). That’s why I put them third.
2. Hung & Chee- Hung and Chee haven’t been in the top 2 since week 5 and haven’t won a leg since week 2. They are by far one of the most consistent teams the race has ever seen…but the problem is, they’re going up against two equally consistent teams. Hung seems to be the brains of all 6 remaining racers, but I do think Hung & Chee have fallen behind the other two teams at the end of the day. If this trend continues, I see Hung & Chee JUST missing out on the win. And second is where I’ll unfortunately predict them to place. But I do think they have what it takes to win, and still wouldn’t be surprised if they do win. They’re my pre-season picks after all!
1. Will & James- I don’t think they’re the strongest racers…but their motto the whole season has been “get to the end, and win the last leg.” They made it to the end, now they have to fight hard to try and win. I do think the stats are on everyone’s side, so it’s hard to base on previous history. But for edit, I think Will & James are getting the “we made the alliance” edit. Their strategy was executed perfectly, and it would make most sense for the arc of the season if they took the win. I think they’re probably the team I want to win the least, because their attitude has been rough at times. But I do think they pulled off a masterful alliance move, and I have to give them credit. Everyone can get mad at them, but there’s nothing in the rules against it. That being said, I think the race can improve some of the ways they keep team separated throughout the race to prevent working together. But while it’s still valid, I think Will & James took advantage of it and got to the end. I think the season has been building to a potential win from them. But like I said, it’s anyone’s game.
This is such a tight race. We’ve seen them all work together, and this leg will REALLY prove who the true champion is. Hung & Chee have the smarts, Riley & Maddison have the brawn, and Will & James have the story. I think, like many other shows like Survivor, the story wins.
Winner- Will & James
Second Place- Hung & Chee
Third Place- Riley & Maddison
