America's Got Talent S15 Power Rankings (Finals)

Sep 23, 2020 by PowerRankings101
imageAfter a very underwhelming semifinals last week, I am happy that most of these acts stepped up their game for the finale. We have a poet, an aerialist, a pair of dancers, a trio of balancers, SIX singers (and three of them are child singers). Not the MOST variety a finale could bring, but mostly solid. I definitely had a prediction going into the night, and while I think I’m still sticking with the person I felt would win, most of the acts have a shot of landing in the top 5. Everyone delivered in some aspect, so let’s rank these ten acts in this final night of performances.

10. Roberta Battaglia- I’ve always praised Roberta’s tone of voice and maturity. I think we’ve realized in recent weeks that her stage presence and body language is what she somewhat pales in comparison with. She makes some awkward gestures, and this time around, they felt a little too rehearsed and polished. As for the song choice, it was sung well (duh) but I just don’t know if this was the “grand finale” song. It just didn’t have that star factor, and it took her well into the song to really kick it up a notch. It was a little too karaoke for me, as I would’ve liked to see her take some liberty with the song. Not bad by any means, but one of the night’s weakest for the reasons mentioned.

9. Kenadi Dodds- I have not been the biggest Kenadi fan in this competition, but I actually think this was her best vocal of the competition. I think she sounded better than she’s ever sounded, and I do think getting away from the piano gave her some cool liberties to do more with her performance. I don’t think it was by any means anything special, but it was a step up. So good job Kenadi!

8. Bello Sisters- This was their best performance thus far, but I still don’t know if it can fully entertain an entire show. I think they’d be great in a Vegas setting to some capacity. They’re extremely talented and should be proud of their work this season.

7. Broken Roots- This was a very interesting rendition of “In the Air Tonight.” I think they sound better together than in the solos, but when they sang together they really shined pretty brightly. I think they really showed how you can take any opportunity, roll with it, and become a fan favorite. This was probably their weakest of their live performances, but I did still enjoy it nonetheless. Well done.

6. Cristina Rae- Cristina is, of course, a wonderful vocalist. Like I said earlier with Roberta, I don’t know if this was the performance I was expecting for the finals. The song choice was fine, but didn’t seem like that final “grand finale” anthem I expected. I feel like she strayed away from karaoke, however, and made it her own. I just don’t know if it was the right song choice in all. Regardless, it was a beautiful vocal, and I think going last in the night gives her a lot of stake heading into this finale. She could win it all.

5. Daneliya Tuleshova- In terms of the three younger girl singers, I think Daneliya knocked it out of the park and made me forget about Roberta and Kenadi by the end of the night. She was really great. She has the star power, she has the ability to really deliver a stunning, maturity vocal. She seems natural and in her element. It was the best vocal of the night from a sheer notes and sound angle. I still have the same issues with her annunciation, but I do think this was her strongest vocal yet.

4. BAD Salsa- I’ve always been their biggest fan, and I still think they have a real impressive act. I can’t tell which of the three live performances I liked best, as they were all consistently good across the board. That being said, I felt like they could’ve done a bit more to step it up a notch. But on sheer talent and enjoyment level alone, they’re still one of my favorite acts in this competition, and I hope they land in the top 5.

3. Archie Williams- I didn’t like Archie’s last performance in the semifinals, but he stepped it up a HUGE notch this week. This was his most emotional and sentimental vocal thus far. And I think it was his best sung vocal. I’m back on the Archie train, and I think he has a great shot to crack the top 5. That last lyric had me in a pile of tears.

2. Alan Silva- Alan is a joy, and he continues to step up his act every time. This was a highlight of the night for me, for sure. The aesthetic, the stunts, the grace, the confidence. It was really beautiful. I am not always the biggest fan of aerialists, but Alan is probably the best the show has ever seen, and I’d love to see him win this whole thing if Brandon doesn’t.

1. Brandon Leake- What is so beautiful about Brandon’s act is that all of his stories have interwoven into this beautiful portrait of humanity, childhood, and parenthood. Brandon is the act AGT needed this year, he’s the act that AGT has needed in these past 15 years. He’s my favorite act, and I hope to god he wins this whole thing. He deserves it. I could watch him perform for hours. Spoken word is true talent. He’s exceptional.

The interesting thing with tonight is that we have so many singers, and I think Archie and Cristina both did enough to secure spots in the top 5 (especially with Cristina finishing the night’s performances). Is there room for 3 singing acts in the top 5??? Let’s look. I think both BAD Salsa and the Bello Sisters are extremely talented, but I just don’t think they’ll have the same voter appeal as some of the other acts. Alan Silva and Brandon Leake on the other hand, will absolutely finish in the top 5. They’ve been nothing short of marvelous. This leaves Broken Roots and the three young girl singers. I honestly feel like the three (Daneliya, Roberta, and Kenadi) may all split votes. It’s not uncommon, and if that happens, that could lead to Broken Roots slipping into the top 5. I want to say that Roberta has the popularity on her side, but Daneliya got a better spot in the show, and Kenadi has been surprising us for weeks now. I’m gonna go with Broken Roots edging the others out. And with that, I’ll predict Broken Roots to finish 5th place regardless. I think, because we saw Alan get a big votes boost on Archie in the Dunkin’ Save a few weeks ago, Archie will finish 4th, and Alan 3rd. The top two will probably be the singer with the most votes, Cristina, and the extremely original poet, Brandon. I’m going with both heart AND gut. Brandon wins.

PREDICTIONS:

Winner- Brandon Leake

Second Place- Cristina Rae

Third Place- Alan Silva

Fourth Place- Archie Williams

Fifth Place- Broken Roots
