Top 100 Survivor Players Power Rankings (#100-91)

Jul 17, 2020 by PowerRankings101
imageIt’s time to kick off the bottom ten people on the list! Like I said, this is purely subjective. I think it’s also important to note that, although this is the bottom ten of this 100 person list, being in the top 100 in itself is a HUGE honor and a great accomplishment, regardless of placement. You WILL disagree, and that’s okay, but please, be kind, be polite, be respectful. I am always welcome for a healthy discussion, and can’t wait to hear all your thoughts. Last blog, I gave my honorable mentions, and now, I’ll be counting down numbers 100-91.

*Number 100: Elaine Stott (Island of the Idols)- Island of the Idols was an interesting season in its casting, giving us some of the WORST casting decisions, but also giving us some of the best. Of course, we got some duds, but the fan favorites we got were all super memorable. Elaine was certainly a fan favorite, as she played with her heart the entire game. She was targeted off the bat for being a threat to beat in the end, and ultimately survived to the final seven, which is pretty damn impressive. Her decision to blindside Missy at the double elimination during the merge phase was one of her best moves, which put her in the Vokai majority for a few more days. She didn’t play the cleanest game, and was ultimately booted before the finale, but I think Elaine was a breath of fresh air for the show, and really stood out on an already character-filled cast with Janet, Dean, Noura, Karishma, and more. When she cried, we cried. I found it impossible to root against her, even if she was way too big a threat to get to the finale. She earns a spot on this list, and recency bias or not, she’s one of the New School Survivor’s better personalities.

*Number 99: Christian Hubicki (David vs. Goliath)- Another recent player, Christian is someone I didn’t know if he deserved to be higher or not, but ultimately, I put him here. I do think Christian got as far as he did with some help from his friends (for example, Davie playing the idol on him during the John blindside), but he still needed to MAKE those bonds in order to get as far as he did. Christian was really relatable, as awkward as he was, and managed to create amazing bonds with Nick, Davie, and Gabby, and earned much of the Goliaths’ respect as well. From the first day, Christian proved he could hold his own in challenges, and even beat Alec in a crazy endurance challenge. In the end, Christian was taken out for being a big threat, as he would’ve most likely swept a jury vote. I don’t think Christian could win a future season, because he’s SUCH a big character and people would vote him out before he could reach final three…but I still think Christian is such a wonderful personality, and will always eat up screen time for being so funny and relatable. Definitely makes the list.

*Number 98: Michaela Bradshaw (Millennials vs. Gen X; Game Changers)- The first two time player on the list, I think Michaela did something that the great Russell Hantz failed to do. She was able to switch up her game between back to back seasons, and made much better relationships her second time around. While still staying true to herself both times, her Game Changers performance seemed much more mature, as she was able to bond with Sandra in the pre-merge and Cirie in the post-merge to find herself in the final seven of the season. Where Michaela ranks lower on this list is because of her first time out. She was a challenge beast, being part of the winning tribe 5 out of 7 times, but she was overconfident, and let Jay get the best of her. She was blindsided in the pre-merge, but was able to still make a big enough impression to come back. And that’s why I love Michaela. She’s memorable, and always offers entertainment, but still plays hard. Even after being voted out, she makes her mark, giving great vote off reactions and becoming an important voice on the jury for Game Changers. She never played perfectly, but provided great entertainment and showed that she was strong when she had the numbers on her side and the right people in her corner. If only she saw that advantage at her feet that Sarah got.

*Number 97: Zeke Smith (Millennials vs. Gen X; Game Changers)- It’s sorta funny how Zeke and Michaela are back to back, as they played on the same exact seasons. I think he played similarly, letting his ego get a bit too big on his first season, but making much better bonds and relationships his second time. He’s obviously memorable for the monumental moment with Jeff Varner, but I think his game is far more than that. He embodies a new school player, in the way he was able to find the alliance best suited for him, turning on allies when he needed to. His mini-rivalry with David led to a tie vote rock draw, which is impressive given that none of his allies flipped to vote him out. I do think playing back to back didn’t give Zeke enough time to digest his previous game, which might be why he finishes around the same place, though I feel like he’s still very strategy savvy and will likely make the merge every season he plays. He’s a great inspirational figure in the Survivor community for his big moment, but will be remembered for being a true strategist and giving it his all. He did help vote out the Queen, Sandra herself. That’s a big accomplishment for sure.

*Number 96: Sierra Dawn Thomas (Worlds Apart; Game Changers)- Sierra Dawn Thomas, or SDT, played twice, and was a surprising returnee for many on Game Changers—but weren’t they all. She wasn’t as heavily edited as some other contestants on Worlds Apart, but I still think she made her mark. It also helps that SDT was one of the most likable of her final stretch of players, with Dan, Will, and Rodney being three more unlikable figures of the season. Her Game Changers run, while placing lower, made her more memorable in the Survivor iconography. She found a Legacy Advantage on day one, and was able to have Tai play an idol on her in the double tribe tribal council. She had a very memorable pre-merge because of this, and went into the merge with lots of momentum. She didn’t necessarily have the best merge, but still remained an entertaining presence, ultimately getting bested by Sarah, who played a dominant game. I do think she’s underrated in that she still plays pretty hard, and despite not finding too much success, I think she’s shown that she can make it far in a season every time she plays. She also got a husband out of Survivor, marrying Joe Anglim from Worlds Apart, who she voted out! It would be fun to see them play together again.

*Number 95: Chris Underwood (Winner of Edge of Extinction)- Our first winner, Chris Underwood will forever be known as the guy to win with only 11 days under his belt. I don’t like the edge, so this ranking might be a bit biased, but I did want to include every winner on the list. His season’s circumstances were what they were, so I can’t knock him for using it to the best of his advantage. I do think he has one of the most impressive finales of any winner. He did so much in just one finale: won a battle back challenge, convinced Lauren to play an idol on him, blindsided the biggest jury threat Victoria, had Devens give him an idol, played that idol, won final immunity, went to fire with Rick, beat Rick in fire, won the jury votes. It was truly impressive, even if it was a one episode effort. I don’t think he should be ranked above any other winner due to only playing 11 days, but he did do everything in his power to ensure his win, and he deserves that credit. This seems like fine placement for his predicament.

*Number 94: Rick Devens (Edge of Extinction)- Some might think Rick is a bit low, however, Rick did get voted out in the pre-merge, and had Edge of Extinction not been in play, I don’t think we’d even be talking about him. I do think Rick’s game, once he returns, starts off a bit shaky as well, and had people not felt bad, I think Rick could’ve ended up being the merge boot as well. He only voted correctly a few times, with the almost unanimous Julia vote, the Kelley vote, and the Aurora vote, until the finale. He had to play his idols to stay alive and win some immunities. That being said, the fact that he was able to find so many idols and win those immunities is what puts Rick on this list. He was never safe, and fought for his safety. I liked his dynamic with David and felt like he was a solid character, even if his gameplay was shaky at times. I put him above Chris because he did do much more in the season than Chris did, though I can’t put him any higher on the overall list for the reason that he needed the edge to get him as far as he did. Players like Ozzy, Andrea, Tina, etc. have won Redemption Island on their seasons, but they have played multiple times, whereas Rick has only played once. If Rick were to play again and go far, I think he’d bump up the list for sure.

*Number 93: Brad Culpepper (Blood vs. Water; Game Changers)- Brad’s Blood vs. Water game isn’t too impressive, and he soured his image in many people’s minds. But his Game Changers game is what earns him a spot on the list. Part of Survivor is winning challenges, and Brad is tied for a record, so I feel like including him is necessary. The reason I think his game is more impressive than his wife Monica’s is because I think Brad’s threat level will always be higher. He’s a world class athlete and has a huge dominant presence, so the fact that he made the final three at all is impressive. Even without the immunity wins, I think Brad made some good relationships, especially with final three tribe-mates Sarah and Troyzan. He’s part of the big reason Malcolm goes home, as JT feeds him the info, and he was also responsible for the boots of Hali and Tai. While his treatment of Tai sours his endgame a bit by the end, I think he played a great game. The reason Brad isn’t higher is because of his condescending attitude at times. It’s the reason he’s portrayed negatively in Blood vs. Water, and the reason he loses some respect in the finals of Game Changers. Getting rid of Tai was the decision that sealed his fate, as we saw in the reunion show, but I think Sarah winning was far more satisfying either way. I like Brad’s game, and think he improved better in two seasons than any other player maybe in the history of Survivor.

*Number 92: Davie Rickenbacker (David vs. Goliath)- I already spoke about Christian, but Davie seemed to be the all around better player of David vs. Goliath. He was my personal favorite of the season, and did a great job managing his threat level. He only really emerged as a huge threat in the final six, where he was the only David without immunity, and got voted out in sixth place. What’s so impressive is that Davie was an alternate, and made the best of his chance to play the game. His idol play on Christian, resulting in the blindside of John, is one of my favorite moments of his season. Davie really had a great run, but the thing I love most about Davie is his compassion. He’s a relatable human, and really makes for some endearing, entertaining personality segments. He was fun to watch, while not too flashy, and he ultimately went home for just being so damn likable. He’s one of my recent favorites, and someone I’d put at the top of the list for a return in a future season.

*Number 91: Sabrina Thompson (One World)- One World will always be known for Kim’s dominance in the game, but I do believe it was a three woman effort with Sabrina and Chelsea as her two sidekicks. I think Kim should deserve MORE credit than the other two, but I do think they were important figures in the season. She was the one who suggested splitting the vote between Troyzan and Christina, which helped get Troyzan out. When she was pointed out for being a jury threat by Kat, she was able to target Kat and get her sent home, with Chelsea and Kim’s help. After that, it was smooth sailing. There’s not too much else to say, as Sabrina had a really really clean game. Do I think she’ll return in the future? Probably not, because she’s not the most exciting or flashy player, but having your alliance make up 6 of the final 7 is quite impressive, and Sabrina is part of that iconic alliance. She wasn’t voted back for Cambodia, showing a bit of a disconnect with fans, though I do think she was fitting for the ballot regardless of being chosen or not.

That was my top 91-100. So here are some clues for the next batch of contestants on the list. Let’s see if you can guess.
