Survivor S40 Power Rankings (Top 9 + 10 EoE)

Apr 22, 2020 by PowerRankings101
imageIt’s interesting how one of the best first halves of any episode could turn into the most rushed, chaotic, crammed second half of an episode. The family visit stuff was a thing of miracles, with so many legendary Survivors seeing their families, and Tyson getting his first family visit ever. Then, there was the second half…rushed strategic talk, a bunch of whispering with no intel as to what the plan was, and advantages played that ended in a Tyson blindside. Poor Tyson didn’t see it coming, and it seems like Michelle voted with the majority after all. It’s all a bit confusing, but now with some idols out of the picture, it should be clearer to establish who is safe, and who is in massive danger.

9. Kim Spradlin-Wolfe- Poor Kim had so much potential to make a big move and save Tyson, forcing Sophie to either play an idol or go home with one in her pocket. Unfortunately, she misplayed it for Denise. I think it was a risky move, but at least she made a move! I love to see Kim play, and think she finally showed her potential that we saw in One World…however, because she showed her ability to play hard, I think it makes her an even bigger threat. She seems to be on her own, and I don’t know how she escapes it. Let’s hope she can win immunity.

8. Jeremy Collins- Jeremy made a big move and ditched tribal council. I think it makes him look like a big target, but the thing about Jeremy that sets him apart from Kim is that he seems to be really good at playing it cool and moving on. Jeremy is a very trusting guy, and people like being around him. Kim, as we saw in the season premiere, struggled to find an ally or bond out the gate, so I think Jeremy just has more ways to maneuver in making new bonds and allies. Yes, I think Jeremy is a way bigger threat than most, and will be gone soon if he doesn’t find an idol. But I think, if anyone could buy more time on the island, it’s Jeremy.

7. Denise Stapley- Denise has been getting lesser and lesser screen time, but still had several advantages played on her. Sarah stole her vote, and Kim played an idol for her. Denise is seeming like a huge target to lots of the contestants, I just wish we were seeing more of her. I think Kim is the next huge target to take out, but after her, it seems like Denise or Jeremy could be a decent back up plan. Denise seemed to be the backup plan had Kim played her idol for Tyson, so I think Denise will always be vulnerable until she either gets sent home or wins.

6. Michele Fitzgerald- Michele was in on the vote, but still seemed like she was out of the loop. I really have no clue where Michele stands. I feel like everyone thinks they can beat her, so they want to take her far, but they don’t seem to include her on strategic talk. Michele has that 50/50 coin, which helps, but I just don’t know where she fits into the big picture.

5. Nick Wilson- Nick seemed to be “in” on the plan the entire time, so I think Nick has settled into the swing vote position. I think this is a great position for Nick to be in, as he is no longer the easy vote out, and is a useful person for people to use. That being said, I don’t think he could win the game at this point, because he seems to be an asset for other’s plans, rather than his own strategic gameplay. He’s safe for now, but I don’t see him winning.

4. Ben Driebergen- Ben got no attention as a target this week, and I think it’s because his social bonds have been so successful. He seems to be making serious friendships, and lots of people feel like they can trust Ben. But this is about the point in Ben’s season where he started playing hard and finding idols, so I wouldn’t count out seeing Ben do some crazy stuff soon. He’s safe though.

3. Tony Vlachos- Tony won his first immunity! I’m happy for Tony, because I think he’s in a really great position. He has Sarah on his side, he can probably rekindle something with Jeremy, and now that there are more idols hidden, I bet Tony starts looking for something. This whole season has been about Hyenas vs. Lions, and how Tony wants to pick off the Hyenas, but it seems like they switched it up and took out a Lion in Tyson last round. Now that Tony is catching this momentum, could he go after a Kim, a Ben, or a Jeremy? I feel like Tony, as big a target as he is, has lots of different options, and options are the best thing to have in this game.

2. Sarah Lacina- Sarah playing her vote steal probably puts a bit of a target on her back, but Sarah has the most room to maneuver, with a tight alliance in Sophie and a tight alliance in Tony. She seems to be with both of them, and despite being targeted, she has the numbers on her side.

1. Sophie Clarke- Like I said with Sarah, her and Sarah are being targeted as a power couple, but they have the numbers to back them up. They have Nick, they presumably have Michele, they have Ben. They have the ammunition they need, and as long as Jeremy, Denise, or Kim don’t find another idol, I think the big majority group will have trouble splitting up. What puts Sophie above Sarah, Tony, Ben, Nick, and Michele is that Sophie has an idol. She would’ve played it had Tyson had the idol played on him, but she knew she had the numbers, so she held onto it, and it was a smart move. So if for some reason someone flips, at least Sophie has an idol to protect herself, and should be the safest person of the episode.

Sophie and Sarah are being targeted, but have an idol, and have numbers of Tony, Ben, Nick, and Michele on their side. Jeremy, Denise, and Kim seem to be on the outs, and I could see any of them going. But the person who seems to be the priority will most likely be one of the best Survivor winners ever, Kim.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Kim Spradlin-Wolfe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the EXTINCTION ISLAND rankings:

10. Danni Boatwright- Danni was the only person on Extinction to not get a confessional speaking to the camera. She was the most minimally edited. Because of that, I think her chances are pretty slim to zero chance in terms of returning.

9. Amber Mariano- Amber had an emotional moment seeing all of her kids. It made me emotional too. She still doesn’t have a shot at returning, though.

8. Ethan Zohn- Ethan got some great content, but again, his story seems to be revolved around survival itself than on the actual game.

7. Yul Kwon- Yul got some content on extinction, but I really don’t think he’s getting too much attention as a potential returnee or winner. I think he’s going to stay at Extinction.

6. Adam Klein- Adam got a great moment with his dad, and a great hug with Jeff. I think this positive portrayal might be pretty promising in Adam’s long term game. I don’t know if he could win the challenge to return, but this positive content doesn’t count it out completely.

5. Parvati Shallow- Parvati had great emotional content, and it’s amazing to see the motherly Parvati after all these years. I love Parv and hope she can return back to the game. If not, this was still a really nice moment.

4. Rob Mariano- Rob had a good moment with his kids and Amber, but his screen time seems to be fizzling out a bit, and I don’t know just how strong his chances are to return, especially with Tyson back in the mix.

3. Wendell Holland- According to interviews, it was Wendell’s idea to hug Jeff. And the jury hugging Jeff was one of my favorite moments ever. So props to Wendell, he gets a good spot on the ranking.

2. Natalie Anderson- Natalie got a really emotional moment with her sister and her sister’s baby. I just think it would be amazing to see Natalie, who was voted out first like her sister, returning back into the game to win. It would just be a really poetic journey. We’ll keep a tab on Natalie’s screen time. It’s been pretty solid for a first-boot vote out, and right now, I think she’s the woman to beat in a challenge, with only one guy above her in terms of winning a challenge.

1. Tyson Apostol- Tyson is back, and out for more vengeance. I think his chances are tougher this time around, as now he has to compete against Wendell, and possibly soon to be Kim or Jeremy. I do think, however, that he has to get this top spot as he already proved himself once before. If anyone can return to the game twice (!), it’s Tyson.

PREDICTIONS:

Quitting- None

Staying on Extinction Island- Natalie, Amber, Danni, Ethan, Rob, Parvati, Yul, Wendell, Adam, and Tyson
