Survivor S40 Power Rankings (Top 16 + 4 EoE)

imageAdam tried to make a move, it backfired. Rob tried to make a move, it backfired. Ethan didn’t even try to make a big move, but it still backfired. Sigh. Ethan is a class act, and while I think his journey this season is over, it was great to see him attempt to go far in this new school game, and I’m excited to see him at the Edge of Extinction. This upcoming episode teases that he may not be there for long, if he has medical visit him… anyways, in terms of the real game, Tyson wants Sandra out, Sandra wants Tyson out, Rob and Parv are on the outs, and Adam is culprit number one, ready to give an apology tour. Here we go.

16. Rob Mariano- Rob is now on the outs, and while I think Adam is public enemy number one, Adam’s tie with Denise may keep him in one week longer than Rob. Rob has now been one-upped, and I truly think Rob is going to have to fight hard to stay in. At this point, the numbers for who they can vote out is dwindling, and with a tribe swap looming potentially, there is no way anyone wants Rob making it to his past allies Sandra or Tyson, or even Kim, who he played poker with. Rob needs to go for everyone’s sake, as good as he is doing in the game given his threat level. I like Rob, and always love seeing how he makes it work, but this is the first week he seemed truly fooled, and I think he’ll have a tough time staying around much longer should Sele lose.

15. Adam Klein- Adam tried to make a big move, and had he just kept Rob out of the loop, things may have been different. But Adam is on the outs, and is going to have to hustle hard. Luckily, Rob is way more threatening than Adam, and Adam is someone who could be a valuable number later down the line to someone. But he’s gonna have to really succeed in his apology tour to bump up any higher than this low spot.

14. Tyson Apostol- Tyson was my winner pick, and I still think he may have a few more weeks left in the game, especially given that his team keeps dominating, but he is definitely more vulnerable than he thinks. He knows he’s not completely “in,” but he also trusts Yul a lot more than he should. I think Yul going to Sandra may have sunk Tyson’s game, and he needs to pray that his tribe wins, or we may see Tyson get booted.

13. Parvati Shallow- Parvati’s name keeps coming up, but I really don’t think she’ll go home yet. As threatening as she is, she isn’t doing anything wrong, and is probably making better social bonds than Rob. She’ll probably always have a foot out the door, but I don’t think she’s out yet.

12. Kim Spradlin-Wolfe- With Sandra and Tyson going at each other’s throats, I think Kim stays safe this week. I can’t see anyone but Kim or Tyson going should Dakal lose, but Kim’s chances of staying are WAY better than Tyson’s. She’s on her own, and I don’t think she poses too much of a threat to anyone.

11. Nick Wilson- Nick hasn’t gotten a confessional since episode 1, and only got a small bit of screen time with the shark this week. Nick, where you at dude?

10. Wendell Holland- Wendell is more visible than Nick, but both are in a similar position. Just there, not really huge players in strategy or social game, but in no danger either. Give us more Nick and Wendell!

9. Yul Kwon- Yul went from Tyson to Sandra. He’s the one who’s creating under-the-radar mayhem on the Dakal tribe. My worry is that, should Dakal lose, Tyson and Sandra come together to realize that Yul is playing all sides. But luckily for Yul, he’s good at making it seem like he’s not in control, and Yul has Nick, Wendell, and Sophie for backup. Yul needs to make sure he’s saying the right things to the right people. Right now, he’s fine, but it could backfire eventually.

8. Denise Stapley- Denise was in on the vote, but her best buddy Adam is now on the outs. Does this make Denise the fourth person in the alliance with Ben, Jeremy, and Michele? I think so. Denise better rope Adam back in, or she may end up being sacrificed later down the line like Adam. She has an idol, which is why she’s still pretty high.

7. Ben Driebergen- Adam’s scheming and plotting is the best thing to happen to Ben’s position in the game. He was needed as a swing vote in the group of Denise, Michele, and Jeremy to boot Ethan, and now that Ben’s tie to the old schoolers in Ethan is gone, Ben is now forced to be loyal to these people, as he doesn’t really trust Rob or Adam. I like Ben’s chances to make the merge now, and if this core group sticks together and makes it to the merge together, they could do some damage.

6. Tony Vlachos- Tony has had amazing moments in every single episode, and is still being shown with amazing strategic content. This week, Cops R Us teamed up again, this time sneaking Sarah into the opposing camp and stealing an advantage. Seeing Tony and Sarah in essentially a Survivor buddy cop movie is absolutely the content I want to see from two of Survivor’s best. His longevity in the game is getting better with each episode.

5. Sarah Lacina- Sarah got a steal a vote during the most impressive Ash Wednesday sneak-in. I was never a huge Sarah fan, but she is winning me over this season. Maybe she’s more humble now. Maybe she’s playing a more social, fun game. Either way, I’m loving it.

4. Sophie Clarke- Sophie continues to be a big narrator on her tribe, which is really exciting, considering this is way more than we’ve seen from Sophie in South Pacific. I think she’s doing a good job coasting through the middle, and the fact that Yul is much more vocal than her, it only helps her blend in. Can’t wait to see her continue blending in and being mischievous while also getting zero flack for it. Her strategy is killing it.

3. Sandra Diaz-Twine- Sandra still has an idol, and Yul is literally feeding her information from the other side. How Sandra is the safest person on Dakal, I’ll never know, but she is really in control right now. The Queen is slaying right now, and until she plays that idol, she won’t go much further down the list from the third spot. She may even take the number one spot, but I have to award the two people who made a huge, game-changing move this week.

2. Jeremy Collins- Jeremy made a big move with Michele, but it seems like neither of them will really take any heat for it since Rob and Adam are both still in the game. Jeremy clearly didn’t get as much air time for this move as Michele did, but he was definitely someone who was super influential in Ethan’s elimination, and we love to see someone do what Jeremy does while maintaining his calm nature and collectedness. I’m so impressed by how Michele and Jeremy have went from being on the outs of the first vote to now being in control. They’re destined to go deep in this game.

1. Michele Fitzgerald- Michele just made one of the biggest moves of the season yet, and solidified a really strong four with Denise, Ben, and Jeremy, while simultaneously painting Adam as the bad guy and shoving Rob and Parv onto the outs of the tribe, getting rid of Ethan, the most likable guy out there. Michele played this week. Michele slayed this week. Michele may be the most underrated of all time, and if she makes it to the end playing like this all season, Michele could win it all.

I think the only person who goes home if Dakal loses is Tyson, whereas Sele has multiple options in Parv, Rob, and Adam. I think this is a clear cut week where only those four are in jeopardy. Idols probably won’t be played. Sandra is confident, Denise is in a good spot, and Kim doesn’t seem to be in too much danger either. I think this is the week we see Rob join the edge, especially since a swap is coming and they don’t wanna risk having him team up with the likes of Tyson or Sandra again (even if Sandra may not reciprocate feelings at this point).

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Boston Rob Mariano

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the EXTINCTION ISLAND rankings:

4. Ethan Zohn- Ethan would be higher on this list, but I only have him this low because I think Ethan is gonna be in a bit of jeopardy due to getting sick or hurt on Extinction. I don’t think he goes home, but he may be the most vulnerable still.

3. Danni Boatwright- Danni just isn’t striking me as someone the editors want us to particularly get behind. I like Danni, I just don’t think she’s as big of a character as the others, so for that, I don’t put her above them in chances of returning.

2. Amber Mariano- Amber didn’t get the fire token opportunity, but she at least tried to make a move and figure out the number code. Amber is trying, and that is worth noting. While I think Amber has a small chance of returning, I think Amber is doing a good job trying to keep up with the new school game, even moreso than Danni. Good job Amber.

1. Natalie Anderson- Natalie is crushing it. She got ANOTHER fire token. If Extinction Island had its own cash prize, we would already have to write that check for Natalie. She’s amazing television, and I can’t wait to see her crush it on Extinction.

PREDICTIONS:

Quitting- None

Staying on Extinction Island- Natalie, Amber, Danni, and Ethan
