Survivor S38 Power Rankings (Top 14 + 4 EI)

imageIt’s hard to believe that Wendy has survived as long as she has, but now, Wendy found herself as the only Manu member on a tribe with Kamas, being Victoria, Aubry, Gavin, and Eric. The other five Manu members ended up on a tribe together, and unfortunately had to face tribal council together and vote off one of their family, Rick. David seemed shock, obviously on the outs of a tight Wardog-Lauren-Wentworth sandwich. This upcoming episode is a DOUBLE elimination episode, so we will be getting two tribals, two eliminations, and two more people joining Reem, Keith, Chris, and Rick at Extinction Island. Let’s see how it’ll go.

14. David Wright- Oh, David, poor David. Easily my favorite returnee this season, David had a solid twosome with Rick that seemed to be in a power position in the pre-swap. Unfortunately, since the swap, the numbers just weren’t on his side. I could see Wardog getting overconfident and David flipping to join Kelley and Lauren, but right now, David is on the outs of his tribe. These four players haven’t won yet, so I don’t know if they’ll be able to avoid tribal council again. If they are able to win immunity, I am going to be over the moon, but if they lose, David just seems like the most vulnerable on the tribe. Poor David. Some people just get screwed by tribe swaps, and I think David and Rick are those two this season. I hope I’m wrong. I really hope I’m wrong.

13. Wendy Diaz- For the first time all season, Wendy isn’t in the bottom spot. But ironically, for Wendy, this is a double elimination episode, so being in the penultimate spot still means that Wendy goes to Extinction this week. Whoops. There has been some talk about Aubry using Wendy for information and in an attempted blindside of Eric or something. I think Aubry should definitely try to utilize Wendy for information as much and as long as she can, but in the end, I just don’t see Aubry wasting an idol so early on Wendy. Everyone is on board with getting rid of Wendy, so Aubry should just go with the flow and join in. She’s gotten all the info out of Wendy already, right? So while we’re meant to believe that Aubry teams up with Wendy, there just isn’t a point if she knows everything she needs to know. Plus, Wendy released the chickens. There is no valid reason anyone else on the tribe should pay the price and go home for anything else. We will see, as I’ve been wrong every week thus far, but with TWO hours and TWO eliminations, this feels like the week we lose Wendy.

12. Joe Anglim- In episode three, Joe caught Ron and Victoria plotting Joe’s demise. In episode four, Joe is swapped onto a tribe with Ron. In the same episode, Joe tries to befriend Ron, saying he trusts him, and wanting to create an alliance with Ron. Ron sends Julia to search through Joe’s things for an idol. Joe is not playing the same game as Worlds Apart or Cambodia. He’s playing a worse game. If his tribe loses (or they throw it, which is a GOOD possibility), Joe goes home. And he’ll be shocked. And it’ll be a glorious blindside. He’s lucky he’s good in challenges, which seems to be the only thing keeping his tribe from going to tribal council. As soon as he goes to tribal council, he’s in for a rude awakening.

11. Aurora McCreary- If Joe is on the radar of Ron, Julia, and Julie, Aurora has to be next on the hit-list. If Joe is too valuable in challenges and Ron doesn’t want to cut ties so soon, Aurora is the move to go with. She should keep one eye open and start being friendly with Julie and Julia soon.

10. Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva- We saw Wardog take control of the vote for Keith, Chris, and Rick’s eliminations. It seems like he wants to go after Lauren next, which could put him and Kelley in a bit of a rift. This is probably the best news David could hear, but Wardog voted with Lauren and Kelley last week, which makes me believe that this Wardog vs. Lauren thing could just be a red herring. Wardog has played a great game so far, and has had everything go his way. I could see it all continue to go smoothly for him, or it’ll all blow up in his face. Either way, we’re in for some good tv.

9. Kelley Wentworth- Nobody in this swap benefited more than Kelley. As soon as the tribe got smaller, David realized he couldn’t target her, and now, Kelley has been sitting pretty without a target on her back for the first time since the game started. Granted, there are four people left on the tribe, and one has an idol, so Kelley isn’t completely safe. But I do think Kelley gets to take a breath while David, Wardog, and Lauren duke it out, while she plots her gameplan going into the merge. Congrats, Kelley. I think you made the merge.

8. Eric Hafemann- Eric is spear-heading the chicken war. If Wendy and Aubry decide to collide forces and go after someone, Eric may be the guy. Eric is tough, and a big threat to Aubry’s game (though I’m not sure if she knows it yet), so getting rid of him would actually be a good move. I think he’s valuable enough to keep in challenges, and I also think Gavin and Victoria will have his back, but he could be the crazy boot if Wendy is able to somehow survive a tribal, should this tribe lose. Day one, Eric was on a mission to get out Aubry. Aubry found an idol, so I’m interested to see what Eric will do if he tries to seek his plan through and attempt to get her out.

7. Victoria Baamonde- Is Victoria the winner of the season? Every single episode, Victoria gets so much screen time when she’s not really a huge part of the gameplay right now….Unless she’s going home soon and CBS wants us to get to know her well. Or she’s just super outgoing and good on camera. I don’t know, but either way, I love watching Victoria play. She seems to not be in control, but it looks like both Eric and Gavin want to work with her, as well as Aubry. Victoria should sit back and stay quiet and let Aubry, Wendy, and Eric take up the screen time if she wants to slip by the tribe swap. I think she has a good shot of going deep if she keeps up with this, as long as she is careful of her surroundings when she’s talking strategy to people.

6. Gavin Whitson- Gavin isn’t as big of a threat as Eric, isn’t as big of an outsider as Wendy, and isn’t as vocal as Victoria. He is right in the middle, sitting pretty. The only person safer than him on his tribe is Aubry, and it’s only because she has an idol. He’s fine, and will only go home if a plan to get rid of Eric goes astray and they go against his right hand man.

5. Julie Rosenberg- We saw nothing of Julie this week. Is she tight with Joe and Aurora? Is she tight with Ron and Julia? We don’t really know, but I think she’s tighter with Ron and Julia, and if that’s the case, there are two bigger fish to fry, and the Central Park toymaker will stick around for a lot longer.

4. Julia Carter- Julia still hasn’t gotten a confessional…BOO. But, we got to see Julia get some good screen time in her little Ron Clark mission of searching through Joe’s stuff. It was such a cool scene and created lots of cool Survivor editing tricks. So, although we don’t really know what your voice sounds like, it’s nice to see you playing some mischief and having fun at camp Julia. I hope to see more of you in these next two hours. Two hours, there must be time for some Julia confessionals, given how safe she is with Ron in an already dominant tribe.

3. Lauren O’Connell- Lauren has an idol, so she remains in the top few spots, but she may have to play it sooner than Aubry will. If Wardog tries to boot her, she has protection, but in a two hour episode, one idol may not be enough. Her sickness paired with the fact that she’s on a tribe of four slowly dwindling may not be helping in her favor. I think the idol helps a lot, but Lauren may not have the easiest ride into the merge if she has to play it in the first half of the episode.

2. Aubry Bracco- Aubry has made a complete 180 in her game. I still think Eric and Gavin are on her tail, but it seems like Wendy is acting as a good shield right now, and she should be able to ride that wave until they go to tribal. She’ll probably be able to boot Wendy, but she also has the option of using her idol and Wendy to create some crazy mischief. Either way, Aubry remains one of the top contenders to win, as she’s got some new alliance options, strong puzzle skills, and a beautiful hidden immunity idol in her pocket.

1. Ron Clark- Is Ron Clark turning into the Tom Westman of this season? The older guy who becomes a tribe leader on a tribe that just doesn’t lose, only to go to the end with a bunch of younger people who haven’t really played super hard and winning in a landslide, winning a few immunities along the way? Right now, it seems like Ron is totally running the game. He’s playing Joe like a fiddle, sending Julia around like his minion, but doing it in a respectful way while winning challenges too. This man is doing it all, and on top of it, he’s leading tribe dances and being an absolute goofball. Ron Clark is killing it, and is probably the safest person going into this episode without an idol. Because his tribe is less likely to go to tribal, I have him at the top spot. I think he’s one of the front runners.

Lauren and Aubry have idols, so they’ll be safe in the first half of the episode…I think Aubry will be able to hold onto her idol throughout, and I hope Lauren can do the same. Either way, it’ll probably be David or Wardog going if the new Lesu tribe goes to tribal, and unfortunately, Rick’s boot points the big target in David’s direction. As for the other tribes, I see Manu going to tribal before Kama, so I’ll say that Big Wendy finally gets sent out. Karma has to run out eventually, and Wendy has already done so much to garner an elimination. She’s been lucky, but in a two-hour episode, she’ll need all the luck in the world to survive. If not her, maybe an Eric blindside, but I really think it’s her.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home 1st- David Wright

Going Home 2nd- Wendy Diaz

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the EXTINCTION ISLAND rankings:

4. Keith Sowell- Keith keeps contemplating quitting. This may be the week he does it. While lots of people are picking Duke to win March Madness, this Duke student seems to be the most vulnerable person to be packing their bags in this competition.

3. Reem Daly- Reem is having a fun time throwing shade at the people who come into Extinction Island, and almost roasting them one by one as they enter. She’ll surely give Rick a piece of her mind too. She is starting to treat Extinction Island as her own island, and it’s getting funnier and funnier. I still don’t think Reem is getting back into the game, though I am enjoying seeing her each week.

2. Rick Devens- Devens probably won’t win a challenge, but he ain’t quitting either. I love Rick and can’t wait to see more of him on the screen. Unfortunately, he’s going to get lots of slack from Reem, Keith, and Chris. Luckily, Rick will be able to take it better than someone like Wardog, David, or Kelley would.

1. Chris Underwood- Chris is still the man to beat. But if he keeps giving fish to his tribe, they’re going to get stronger. Make them weaker Chris! Make sure you can beat them (I know you don’t know what’s in store for Extinction Island, but always put yourself first).

PREDICTIONS:

Quitting- Keith

Staying on Extinction Island- Reem, Chris, and Rick

Yeah there's no way Keith will end up staying the whole time with as much quitting talk as he's had.
