Top Chef S16 Power Rankings (Top 9)

Jan 19, 2019 by PowerRankings101
imageEddie was on the top again, and WON. Brian was on the bottom again, as was Sara. Sigh. This season started out incredibly unpredictable, and now, we may be seeing a clear separation appearing between top and bottom. Here we go.

9. Sara Bradley- Sara has been on the bottom three times in a row now. I think she’s trying to bite off way more than she can chew, and why she isn’t just playing it safe and sticking to her Kentucky roots, I have no idea. Sara is also rubbing me the wrong way, so I believe it is truly her time to go.

8. Brian Young- The similarity between Brian and Sara is that they have been on the bottom time and time again. The difference is that Brian is making good food, but making silly mistakes that ruin the dish. I think, if he corrects his mistakes, he can be great and put forward some excellent food. We haven’t seen this except for Restaurant Wars, but I’m hoping he can learn this week, and stick to his roots as well. And between him and Sara, I see him adjusting better.

7. Michelle Minori- Michelle is the only person left who has never been on the top of an elimination challenge. She has a quick fire up her sleeve, but otherwise, she hasn’t been standing out. C’mon Michelle! Just speak up a bit more.

6. David Viana- David is still my winner pick, and has been consistently impressing me….this past week was a dud. I think he’ll bounce back, but I do have to put him here. He knows he can do better, and he has said that he has been kind of riding the middle since week three. I hope he can come back and impress again, because I really do see the potential in him and want to see a guy from New Jersey take it all the way!

5. Kelsey Barnard Clark- Kelsey is so hit or miss for me, but her strong screen presence is why I keep her this high, and think she has a legitimate chance of still taking it all the way and winning it.

4. Eric Adjepong- Eric is still one of two people to have NEVER been in the bottom (him and the top spot contender, Eddie), so props to him. The bad news? When he’s not on the tippy top, he’s nearly invisible.

3. Adrienne Wright- Adrienne has been improving more than anyone else this season, showing strength in Week 2, emerging as a contender during Week 5, and being the woman to beat since. She has incredible creativity (black and blue beef, absolutely). She hasn’t won an elimination challenge yet (only Brian, Eddie, and Eric actually have), but her time is coming, I feel it.

2. Justin Sutherland- Justin bounces back! I didn’t think I’d be excited for him, but I was very excited watching him this week. He seemed to really have his head in the game this week, and I’m rooting for him to make a full comeback and stay as a contender. I truly think he has some of the best skill in the whole game, and winning a Quickfire and being on top of an Elimination Challenge keeps him riding high with the number one contender who is…

1. Eddie Konrad- Eddie may be unstoppable. He’s been on the top for FOUR challenges in a row, and is inevitably the most loved cast member of this judges’ panel from a likability standpoint (and probably contending with David as the audience favorite as well). I don’t know when he’ll make a misstep, but he hasn’t thus far, and I can only hope he doesn’t. I love Eddie so far. The number one contender.

Fitting that Eddie, Justin, and Adrienne were the top three for the Quickfire and the top three for the Elimination challenge, and now they’re the top three for this ranking. And who’s on the bottom? Whose scotch egg didn’t make the plate? BOOM.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Sara Bradley
