We’re now at the interesting stage (finale) where the chefs become individuals. It’s hard to rank, since Shane & Mark as well as Timothy & Darren had been the strongest teams all season.
4. Darren MacLean- Darren is lowest in my book, strictly because he has the least experience of anyone else in this finale. I think his biggest moment and peak came when the Japanese challenge came. I think Darren really proved that he was the master of Japanese cuisine. In my opinion, that was his highest accomplishment, and it seems like he may be overshadowed by the rest in this final challenge.
3. Shane Osborn- Shane has won two Michelin stars, which is amazingly impressive. Shane would be a very likable winner, and I’d be a fan of him winning, but it seems like Mark has been the stronger of the pairing. I feel like anyone could win, and Shane’s incredible prestige could carry him to the finish line, but I think he’ll come up short a few spots.
2. Timothy Hollingsworth- Timothy is the real deal, and because of his American background, he has the most culturally excusable to him. Then again, it’ll be interesting to see what “defines him as a chef” in terms of his signature dish in the finale. I think Timothy has been one of the most confident, collected, and determined chefs of the entire competition. I think he’s got one of the best shots of winning it all!
1. Mark Best- Mark has the “winner” vibe written all over him. It’s hard when all four are so strong, but Best is literally Mark’s name. Mark has been providing some of the funniest humor all season, and has equally delivered on food. The only reason why I put him above the rest (especially his partner Shane), is because of his consecutive awards given to him in Australia. He has won the highest award 10 years in a row, which means he knows how to be consistent and deliver time and time again without much fault. I keep thinking of the time when Shane couldn’t eat the sea urchin and Mark led the dish to delectable victory. That is the type of person I think could be sitting at the Final Table.
There are so many great contenders for the final prize here. I think Mark and Timothy are the stronger of their duos, and between the two, Mark seems to be the most experienced. That’s strictly what I’m basing the rankings on, but anyone can win a spot at the final table! Excited to see what they bring to the table!
