Top Chef S16 Power Rankings (Top 13)

I was wrong about Sara, I expected for her and Nini to butt heads. Instead, their teams soared to new heights, and Natalie (the person in my TOP SPOT), went home. I was beyond shocked, but she seemed to not even care that she was doing poorly. She just wasn’t cutthroat enough I guess.

13. Brandon Rosen- His quick fire dish was good…but this guy had a terrible dish in the elimination challenge. He’s probably the least likable of anyone else on this season. So let’s get this guy out. K thanks.

12. Michelle Minori- Michelle is probably the least recognizable of this bunch, and her food hasn’t exactly been up to par either. She didn’t make a Benedictine that compared to a real Benedictine, and if her team had lost, she would’ve easily gone home. I think her days are numbered, simply because she hasn’t been a very prominent figure in the edit.

11. Brian Young- Out of everyone on the Red Team, Brian and Michelle were the only two with poor reviews. I think Brian had fine reviews, but really paled in comparison to the rest. I’m worried that he’s just not keeping up with everyone else.

10. Pablo Lamon- Poor Pablo suffered the most from his team’s shopping disaster. His spices weren’t there and his dish suffered because of it. I liked Pablo originally, but he ended up with two bad dishes this week. One more strike, and he may be going home.

9. Kelsey Barnard Clark- Kelsey’s catfish was a disaster, and while she wasn’t even in the bottom three, I think she was the fourth one from the bottom. She could have been a huge contender had she nailed it this round, but I am worried that Kelsey may be on the decline. She was one of my favorites from the premiere so I hope she can bounce back.

8. Kevin Scharpf- Kevin made a delicious dessert. After a pretty scary first week, he came back with something extremely decadent and lovely. I am proud that Kevin was able to bounce back and redeem himself.

7. Adrienne Wright- Adrienne also redeemed herself, like Kevin. She still seems a bit nervous and unsure of herself, but she really excels when it comes to cooking seafood. That catfish was off the charts.

6. Eric Adjepong- We saw a little bit of a temper come from Eric this week. He had a great dish, but maybe he’s just a teeny weeny bit too competitive.

5. Eddie Konrad- Eddie is the reason his whole team sunk. But someone could’ve told him to change his dish. All he did was buy the ingredients he needed. Nobody else spoke up or intervened. And they all paid the price, he didn’t. His dish was spectacular and as long as he is consistently putting out good food, he’ll stay safe no matter how dumb he could be in his shopping sometimes.

4. Sara Bradley- Sara made some amazing chow chow, and showed how her Kentucky roots would really be a strength for her. I think she’s someone, like Carrie last season, who will go far because she is comfortable with the local ingredients and flavors. But can she win? We will have to wait and see.

3. Justin Sutherland- Justin has been cooking really well this season and while his corn got dropped on the floor, he made up for it the best possible way. Probably the best of the losing team, and one of the early contenders to win.

2. Nini Nguyen- Nini knocked it out of the park this week and put up a phenomenal spoon bread. I’ve never had spoon bread, and now I need to try it. She’s definitely emerging as a contender. The only thing keeping her from that top spot is her inability to mesh well with others on every challenge. She even said herself that she can be bossy sometimes. She’ll need to really contain that and watch herself.

1. David Viana- David rocked it in the quick fire (and won courtesy of his crush Gail Simmons). I think David is the real deal and is very humble whenever he is praised. His lamb dish wasn’t a slam dunk, but it was still one of the better dishes of the night, and on the winning team. Right now, he’s been the most consistent which is why he tops the list.

There are lots of contenders right now. Right now, it’s more about who will not win, and the three that jump to my mind immediately are Brandon, Michelle, and Brian. I’m taking a gamble here.
