Survivor S37 Power Rankings (Top 19)

Oct 1, 2018 by PowerRankings101
imageWhat an amazing premiere episode. First of all, the editing in this was amazing. Dan’s idol reveal came as a surprise, each contestant got good screen time, and the medical emergency of Pat was handled with a lot of care. It also helped that the rain was a factor, because it added to the rough beginning days on the island and set the tone for the entire season. This was a perfect episode to emphasize the David vs. Goliath theme. David wins the first challenge, only to suffer in the rain, lose a challenge, and lose their strongest player, Pat. Now they’re going into the next challenge down their strongest and going up against a team of stealthy, cocky Goliaths. If the season continues to play out like this, it’s going to be a great one.

19. Lyrsa Torres- Had Lyrsa blown it in the challenge, I think she’d be a much bigger target and liability. But she held her ground, and she and Christian impressed their tribe in the opening moments. However, it seems like the only person she has made a connection with is Elizabeth. Also, while she did fine in the challenge, she is still one of the weaker members of the tribe. I could still see her going home shortly.

18. Nick Wilson- Ah Nick. Every year, there’s someone who does no work for the camp. Last year is was Bradley. He went home early. This year, it could very well be you. If Lyrsa was stronger in challenges, you’d be toast.

17. Bi Nguyen- Bi got a small little bit about her family life. But she really hasn’t been shown strategizing much. I could definitely see Bi going home early because we’re getting enough content from her to know who she is, but not enough content to convince us that she’s gonna be a major game player.

16. Natalie Cole- Natalie is setting herself up for disaster. Bossing around people is one thing. Pat did it too, but at least he was able to still get work done. Natalie is bossing people around and not doing any physical work herself. This is going to get her sent home quickly. The saving grace is that she may be using Mike as a shield, AND the Goliaths aren’t losing an immunity challenge 9 times out of 10.

15. Mike White- Like I said with Natalie, the Goliaths won’t lose. But IF they lose, it seems like Mike and Natalie are the ones on the chopping block. I think Mike is more likable. This could mean people want to take him out right away, or it may make people want to work with him. Sure, he was looking for an idol, but three people (Dan, Kara, and Natalia) know who has the idol, so I think that relieves Mike’s target a bit.

14. Natalia Azoqa- Natalia would have been put up toward the top with her other alliance members Dan and Kara…however, Natalia is much more upfront and loud about her opinions and thoughts. She was the one criticizing Natalie for standing around, she was the one going up to Mike telling him that he was on Amazing Race. I think people are going to be rubbed the wrong way, and if Natalie and Mike are able to find more alliance members, then they could target Natalia first.

13. Alec Merlino- Alec seemed invisible until the immunity challenge. He was definitely kicking butt in the challenge. My only worry is that he is coming across as the Ozzy/Joe/Jay type, but isn’t getting ANY screen time. If he really WAS the Ozzy of the season, we’d be seeing a lot more from him. This makes me think he’s going home early.

12. Elizabeth Olsen- Elizabeth has made a friend in Lyrsa, but hasn’t branched out to many others. I think she’s someone who may get lost in the shuffle, but is likable enough that people will keep around for now.

11. Jessica Peet- Jessica seems like the weakest David because of her age and the fact that she broke down in tears. But I really think Jessica may shock some people this season. If the narrative plays out the way Probst and CBS want it to, Jessica could be the David who overcomes everything. Imagine the youngest Survivor winner ever being a 19 year old teenage girl on a season featuring pro wrestlers and SWAT officers? It would surely be impressive.

10. Jeremy Crawford- Jeremy barely got screen time in the past episode, but I didn’t get a particularly good vibe from him. I could see him making it to the merge, however, because he looks like a strong member of the tribe.

9. Alison Raybould- Alison was very vocal in the first episode, and if the Davids had a target, it may be her for her attitude. But I think her own tribe seems to like her and see her as the strongest female competitor on their tribe. That’s a good thing to be on a team that already seems stacked for challenges. Dr. Alison will be fine.

8. Davie Rickenbacker- If I was wrong about anyone, it was Davie. I expected him to be a handful and antagonist. But Davie had a great episode, catching a freaking OCTOPUS for his tribe. There is no reason to get rid of a provider, and with Pat gone, Davie is inevitably the David team’s strongest member and should be safe.

7. Angelina Keeley- Angelina comes across pretty cocky, but she also comes across as a strong team member. I don’t think she’ll be in danger till further down the line. I think she has a good awareness of her place in the game, and has already gotten some good confessionals in the premiere. I think she’s fine.

6. John Hennigan- The George Bushy of Tushy is one of the best characters this season. What I like about John is that he’s playing up his personality in the confessionals, but is much more mellow on the beach. He isn’t threatening others, and seems to be getting along well with others. He’s doing exactly what he needs to do right now.

5. Kara Kay- Kara was very low in my rankings last week, but she seems to be in a great position…for now. She’s already made Dan her puppy dog and seems to have him under control. The only downside is that the girl almost ALWAYS goes home before the guy in any sort of relationships we’ve seen in the past (Jessica before Cole in season 35, Figgy before Taylor in season 33). Right now, I think she’s okay, but if anyone finds out about her and Dan’s budding showmance, they may take a shot at her. But Dan has an idol.

4. Carl Boudreaux- Carl was taking a beating on his tribe. I expected him to be the medical evacuation when I saw the stretcher. I’m glad Carl is on this season. Carl seems like a respectful, quiet guy…but he does have lots of gameplay potential. He’s the one who threw Nick’s name out as a target. He is making bonds with a lot of the younger members of the tribe, especially Jessica, who he sees as a daughter. I think Carl is gonna be the sleeper pick for the season, and when he ends up all the way in the end of the game, I won’t be surprised.

3. Dan Rengering- Dan is my favorite Goliath, I think. But he has to make sure to put the game first, women second. If he gets too distracted, that idol may end up in Natalia or Kara’s hands. He’s their puppy dog right now, and will do whatever they say. But let’s hope he can hold on to his idol till much deeper in the game. I think he is going to do just fine in the game, especially since people like Natalie will keep him around strictly for his looks. He’ll stick around.

2. Gabby Pascuzzi- Gabby made a bond with Christian, and has been involved in a lot of her tribe’s emotional moments at camp. She’s showing an incredibly strong social game, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she starts showing some awesome strategy. She doesn’t need to be making any huge moves right now, because I don’t think she’s on anyone’s radar. She’s sitting really pretty right now, and I’d love to see her and Christian make a run for it for the Davids. The Davids will probably lose, but her and Christian will make it out alive.

1. Christian Hubicki- Christian is topping the list for me. He made a close bond with Gabby, proved his worth in solving a 6-second slide puzzle, and provides amazing television content. I like Christian a lot and think he is such a unique person on camera and in the game of Survivor. I think he shows a lot of potential to be a true player this season, but doesn’t seem threatening enough to really be targeted any time soon. Especially by his own tribe.

My favorites are Christian, Gabby, and Carl for the Davids. And then Dan, Mike, and John for the Goliaths. Out of all those people, Mike may be in some danger, but the Goliaths are strong and will probably win the challenge. When the Davids go to tribal, they’ll most likely keep the stronger members safe (Christian, Davie, Carl). Out of the weaker bunch, Lyrsa seems like the odd one out and may be targeted. I think Nick will remain on the radar too, and may only be safe because he’s better in challenges than Lyrsa. We’ll see. Because neither tribe has gone to trial, I truly don’t know where the tribal divides are. So I’ll stick with the same person I predicted to go home last week.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Lyrsa Torres
