Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 Performances From Infinity War Actors

Jul 30, 2018 by PowerRankings101
imageWith the release of Infinity War on home video coming, I thought it would be fun to not rank the top 10 Marvel films, or top 10 actors, or top 10 characters…those lists have been overdone and are brunt to a crisp. Instead, we’re doing a special list. The best performance from EVERY Infinity War star. The Top 10 are ranked, but we wanted to really draw attention to each of the cast members’ best roles.

Honorable Mentions:

“Sicario”- Benicio del Toro
“Chaplin”- Robert Downey Jr.
“The Cabin in the Woods”- Chris Hemsworth
“A Knight’s Tale”- Paul Bethany
“Ingrid Goes West”- Pom Klementieff
“42”- Chadwick Boseman
“The Hurt Locker”- Anthony Mackie
“War Horse”- Tom Hiddleston
“The Jungle Book”- Idris Elba
“Elf”- Peter Dinklage
“Annihilation”- Benedict Wong
“Silver Linings Playbook”- Bradley Cooper
“Blade Runner 2049”- Dave Bautista
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”- Karen Gillan
“Gone Girl”- Carrie Coon
“The Iron Giant”- Vin Diesel
“The Royal Tenenbaums”- Gwyneth Paltrow
“The LEGO Movie”- Chris Pratt
“Pulp Fiction”- Samuel L. Jackson
Again, not a movie but “The Walking Dead”- Danai Gurira
Not a movie, but “How I Met Your Mother”- Cobie Smulders

10. “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”- Chris Evans: There’s just something so cool about seeing a young Chris Evans as an evil boyfriend Lucas Lee in this wacky comic book film. He is just delightful and a true breakout of that film. SO I had to include it in the top 10.

9. “No Country for Old Men”- Josh Brolin: Thanos is the role Brolin was born to play. But before that, he was part of an Oscar Best Picture winning film. His performance In NCFOM is legendary and established Brolin as a true tour-de-force when it comes to the art of film acting.

8. “Wind River”- Elizabeth Olsen: If Jeremy Renner was in Infinity War, I’d also include this for him. Olsen was a breakout from the MCU, but she really showed her chops in “Wind River,” a movie not too many people saw last year. It’s truly one of the better, suspenseful thrillers to come out of 2017, and I’m grateful to have seen it and supported Olsen’s amazing work.

7. “The Impossible”- Tom Holland: He’s still a kid. But Holland was a KID when he made this. And he was just an incredible child actor. His dramatic performance as a kid separated from some of his family in a tsunami was one that really connected with audiences and I can’t believe we aren’t talking about this film more!

6. “I, Tonya”- Sebastian Stan: Stan’s character in “I Tonya” is absolutely ruthless and disgusting. But he gives one hell of a performance and hits the right deliveries in every line he has.

5. “Her”- Scarlett Johansson- Voice acting in the top 5? You bet. She’s fantastic. Flawless if you ask me. Didn’t love the film, but it’s Johansson’s best performance. So much dedication to just her voice acting, and it really really paid off.

4. “Avatar”- Zoe Saldana: Similarly, Zoe Saldana is doing an entire performance here in motion capture suit. Not exactly voice acting, but an added layer of difficulty than any other performance. She is a highlight of the highest grossing film of all time. She is simply incredible, and it was tough to decide on just one role for her (Star Trek is another must see for her).

3. “Hotel Rwanda”- Don Cheadle: Talk about selflessness. Cheadle plays a manager of a hotel in the middle of the Rwandan genocide. His role is so selfless and kind, but empowering and strong and tough. Cheadle is one of the finest actors we have working today, and I hope those who haven’t seen this film give it a look.

2. “The Imitation Game”- Benedict Cumberbatch: Suspenseful, and incredibly high paced, “The Imitation Game” is one that excited me when I first saw it and continues to excite me as I watch it now. Cumberbatch not only plays a determined, brilliant man, but has an added layer of emotional depth from his backstory. The character of Alan Turing was portrayed perfectly by Cumberbatch, and is his best role of his career.

1. “13 Going on 30”- Mark Ruffalo: A bit of a selfish, personal choice, I love this movie to no end. Ruffalo’s character Matty inspired me to be the humble, considerate man I am today. No kidding. This movie is entertaining, underrated, and genuinely sweet as hell. And Ruffalo tugs at every heart string and has since established himself as one of my all time favorite performers.
