It’s Mamma Mia week! Here are the top 10 songs from the sequel, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”
10. “Mamma Mia”- Lily James was the highlight of the movie (she’s the lead too, which shows the movie’s power). But the only song that I preferred seeing Meryl in was this one. Lily James rocked it still, making it a great comeback for the song.
9. “Waterloo”- It was hilarious seeing Young Harry in his free spirited way. We all know how the character of Harry grows up to be, but it’s great seeing him when he was just this goofy, young rocker. It was funny, charming, and perfect for the character of Harry.
8. “Angel Eyes”- Rosie and Tanya always steal the show in most scenes they’re in. And their chemistry with Sophie is brilliant. But their musical number involving lifts over tables and cake upon cake is one of the funniest bits of the film.
7. “Fernando”- One word: Cher.
6. “When I Kissed the Teacher”- A fun opening number that showcased Lily James in the most fun, bubbly way. She is a true gem, and this was the first time we saw her rock out. Donna’s origin was off to an excellent start, and her story would get only more amazing from there.
5. “My Love, My Life”- Definitely the most emotional one in the film. Seeing the parallels of different characters surely made my heart hurt in the best possible way. Emotional overload. I loved it.
4. “Why Did It Have to Be Me?”- The best boyfriend was Bill. We all agree. And this song was the cutest way to describe their relationship, including a great boat dance number. So much fun, and one of the better new songs in the film.
3. “Super Trouper”- A little trip seeing Meryl sing with Lily sing with Amanda sing with literally everyone else. But still. It was an epic finale to an epic film. Ah I love this movie.
2. “Andante, Andante”- The song that started it all. Donna’s first musical performance in the restaurant brought actual tears to my eyes. Lily James’ best song in the film, also the best new song they had to offer.
1. “Dancing Queen”- Seeing everyone singing on the boat, and everyone meet up on the island. It was the pinnacle of this exceptional film. The highlight that will always stick with me. How great.
