Dancing With The Stars S25 Power Rankings (Round 9)

Nov 13, 2017 by PowerRankings101
imageHere we have a T.O. elimination, one I didn’t see coming, but one I’m not upset to see. We have 5 contestants left, one being the clear frontrunner, one who has lost steam at a few points but has also had some incredible highs, one who was underestimated and is a true contender, one who is relying a bit more on story than dance ability, and one who has overstayed their welcome but is entertaining as hell. So who will make our finals? Let’s see how the couples ranked on their dances and their trio routines!

12. Drew Scott and Emma Slater- Drew seems to have hit his peak and is now taking steps backward. I think Drew’s sentiment for this dance was nice, but the motions were so stiff and rickety, that it clearly brought them down a level. With the competition thinning, his flaws are becoming more and more noticeable.

11. Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke with Kelly Monaco- This was the weakest trio for sure. I think Kelly was underused, and the choreography just didn’t go anywhere for me. This felt like a routine that trekked through mud and was going slow-mo. It was boring for me, and it’s a shame because I love Kelly, and I love Cheryl. Oh well.

10. Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke- Terrell really has improved, but this routine was a bit forgettable for him. He moved nicely with the charleston, but I did find myself more interested in Cheryl, and when Terrell isn’t the standout, it doesn’t surprise me that he was eliminated.

9. Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy- I think Victoria’s flaws show too, like Drew’s, but I think Victoria is a much more impressive dancer. She makes up for some footwork mistakes with good facial expressions and emotional commitment, so I can accept some faulty footwork. This was a good tango. Not a great tango, but a good one.

8. Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy with Laurie Hernandez- Laurie is sweet as pie, and Victoria is just as sweet. This routine is just so sweet. And that’s all I can say. It’s danced well, and just adorable, so props to them. Val is one of the best and regardless of how the dancing is, it’s always an enjoyable time. But then again, we have to consider the dancing itself, which again was good, just not great.

7. Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas- Mark is back with another explosive dance full of innovative content. This time, a circus of heavy drums and flashy lights. This was well danced, obviously, but I felt like this was one of their more forgettable dance routines, just because it kind of stayed in the same place the whole time and never built for me. Regardless of the material, her dancing is really good, so she’ll never be at the bottom of my list.

6. Drew Scott and Emma Slater with Rashad Jennings- Fresh off his win, Rashad is having the time of his life. And it shows, because he’s miles better than Drew. But Drew still hangs in there and has fun with this. Emma won’t get a second mirror ball this time, but she’s having a blast with two of her best partners she’s had. This was fun, and a huge improvement from Drew’s first routine of the night.

5. Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson- Frankie is the biggest and best surprise this season. This wasn’t as precise as his other routines have been, but it was so enjoyable to see Frankie show a sweet side that is incredibly opposite of what he did in his stalker routine and his pirate routine. Frankie is very versatile, and I love seeing him play to so many different characters and emotions.

4. Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas with Kristi Yamaguchi- I never got to see Kristi’s season, so this was a pleasant surprise for me. Kristi is very animated and a joy to watch. This routine was simple, elegant, and definitely a lot of fun. The only problem, I was watching Mark and Kristi more than I was watching Lindsey. And in this competition, the star has to be the one to shine. That’s where my fault lies with this dance, but the dance was full of synchronization that kept me entertained and enthralled throughout.

3. Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson with Alfonso Ribeiro- Alfonso always had a blast, and I was worried he was going to steal the spotlight from Frankie. But he shared it, and all three (Whitney, Frankie, and Alfonso) were able to shine in their own lights. This was one of the more balanced trios I’ve seen, and I loved seeing each person show off their strengths. I’ll remember this trio, for it was fun, full of Carlton, and oozing with energy.

2. Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold- Is there anything he can’t do? Truly, one of the most gifted celebrities to come on this show. And I can’t forget to acknowledge Lindsay, who has been producing some killer choreography lately. Watch out Mark, Lindsay wants that Mirror Ball more than anyone else, and she’s going miles to get it.

1. Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold with Corbin Bleu- This dance was perfect. As if Jordan couldn’t do better, they pair him with one of the best to never win, Corbin Bleu. Fresh off of a Broadway run in “Holiday Inn,” Corbin shows precise and perfect moves to not compete with Jordan’s, but compliment Jordan’s. I want to see a show starring the two of them, because they move with the same energy and passion, and if they ever do an All-Stars season, I think this may be our final 2. Incredible. Best dance of the night.

Jordan, Frankie, and Lindsey should sail into the finals, unless we’re in for a shocking night. As for Drew and Victoria, Drew blew it with his first routine, but I think he had a stronger second round than Victoria. It’s hard to tell, but I think Val has had better luck in general than Emma has, and if you’re going by star power, Laurie Hernandez is probably the most popular winner since Bindi Irwin, so I’m gonna say Victoria and Val survive the night. Drew got 7’s in round 9. I mean…no one else deserves the boot right?

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Drew Scott and Emma Slater
