Dancing With The Stars S25 Power Rankings (Round 8)

Oct 31, 2017 by PowerRankings101
imageNikki’s elimination was expected, while Vanessa’s elimination came out of nowhere. I didn’t know it was a double elimination, nor did I think Vanessa would be in any danger. She had a killer week last week, and while she wasn’t as good this week, I still think she is the next best after Lindsey Stirling and Jordan Fisher (though we may have a dark horse topping our list this week). Let’s rank!

10. Drew Scott and Emma Slater- This was funny…for a bit. Then, I sort of lost my interest. Drew always seemed an eeny bitty little bit behind Emma throughout the entire dance, and that fall wasn’t very well played off. Accident or not, it totally took away from the dance. I think Drew has had some great moments, but the speedy dances are sometimes too much for him, and I think that left him with the weakest routine of the night.

9. Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy- This one seemed a little off to me. While I’m upset she was eliminated this week, this very well could have sent her home next week. The footwork seemed distracted by the storytelling and theme itself, and the connection was lacking. In this case, their elimination is seeming a little more justified with this dance. I don’t know.

8. Team Monster Mash- This routine was very underwhelming. Even Jordan and Lindsey, who have been the two top contenders all season, were just alright. Nothing special. The best part of this was Mark Ballas’ scarecrow, and he’s a pro, so I can’t really rank this much higher than down here toward the bottom. Dang.

7. Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvinsev- I’ve been waiting for Dancing with the Stars to use Bette Middler’s hit cover from Hocus Pocus, but they didn’t even use the Bette Middler track, which severely bothered me. Music aside, this dance was pretty good and made me smile throughout. It was fun. Not technically perfect, but it still had enough impressive content to make their elimination upsetting in my eyes. While I predicted it, I certainly didn’t WANT it to happen.

6. Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke- This was the most character we got from Terrell. Every week, he builds and builds into a better dancer. Cheryl may be the Miracle Worker this season. While this was Terrell’s best, it got a bit lost in the mix with the other dances tonight, but I do applaud them on a good dance overall.

5. Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas- Coming off a week as strong as last week, Mark really had to bring it to the next level. Choreography wise, I think he did a good job, but Lindsey’s injury definitely put her a step back this week. Still on the better end of performances seeing as how she has that natural gift and stage presence, but technically, it didn’t compare to last week’s or some of the big hitters from tonight.

4. Team Phantom of the Ballroom- It wasn’t the best team dance I’ve seen, and a perfect score was definitely a stretch. But I will say, it was very synchronized and simple, which is sometimes what we need to see, and we sometimes miss behind the spectacle. I just wish there was a bit more individuality to showcase each pair like in typical team dances. But this was definitely the superior of the two, and I will say, Frankie Muniz won the night with yet again another great character and memorable presence. Halloween night was nothing short of a Muniz night this year.

3. Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy- I thought Victoria was losing steam, but this was her best routine yet. This was a stunning Waltz and while the night had more tricks than treats, this was a haunting, beautiful routine that showed a softer side of the night, despite kicking it off. I will remember this routine by the end of the night, and I hope others did too.

2. Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold- Perfection once again. In the past, they’ve nailed the dancing, while the creativity was somewhat absent. This dance was full of theme and creativity, and I’m excited to put him right up here toward the top yet again. I also can’t wait to see him team up with Corbin Bleu next week and see what comes of the Disney/Broadway star duo.

1. Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson- Did we just see Frankie Muniz (aka Malcolm in the Middle, aka Agent Cody Banks) just become a creepy slasher villain in a horror movie and totally rock the hell out of the creepiest Halloween routine ever? Absolutely. You heard me. It was phenomenal, and Frankie did an excellent job committing to the character and hitting each move incredibly precisely.

Frankie Muniz won the night. Jordan was close behind. I have a very soft spot for Victoria after that stunning routine, and I think the Team Phantom dance was one of the stronger moments of the night. Lindsey wasn’t the best I’ve seen, but still should have enough backing behind her. This leaves Terrell and Drew for elimination, and honestly, I don’t know which one has a weaker fan base. I’m gonna say it’s Drew’s time to go, because I think Cheryl is a fan favorite too and should help Terrell. But don’t be surprised if Lindsey goes home surprisingly after this injury, or if Victoria goes home for going first this week. Anything can happen, as we saw this week.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Drew Scott and Emma Slater

Vanessa was losing her steam in away. The bond between her and Maks wasn't really that believable and the dances were middle pack material after the first few rounds. Sadly her funny personality couldn't help her.
