Norway is known for its cold and harsh winters. Across the season, much of the country 'transforms into a snow-clad paradise' (visitnorway.com). From the middle of November to the end of January, the Sun doesn't rise at all in parts of northern Norway. When you think of winter, you think of snow, and the Nordic countries are probably what first comes to mind when you think of snow - and Norway is particularly prominent due to the Northern Lights.
Introducing Bendik's "Kriger", a Norwegian hymn for the ages. In the music video you can see Bendik thrashing around in the snow, and I think that's a winter pastime in Norway. On a more symbolic level, winter is seen to depict harshness, calmness, silence, light and love, mourning, death, ending and detachment (weknowyourdreams.com). The lyrics of Kriger, in their translated English form (Google Translate), talk about a harsh, conflicting end of a relationship (We are at war / I want to escape).
