TSC 2019 Ranking: #12-9

Dec 14, 2019 by Patrick319
12. IZA, Ciara and Major Lazer - Evapora // Sent by ianfitz0012
TSC 378 - 8th place, 79 points (12 points given)

Despite being one of the newest releases in my top 100, Evapora's spot at #12 is completely warranted because I KNOW I will be listening to it for months to come. I'm just a big fan of these kind of drops (see: Sax by Renan Pitanga). I can listen to them ALL DAY LONG. My only qualm about Evapora is its (late) release date, because had it come out sooner it could have been THE summer bop of 2019.

11. Charlotte Lawrence - Why Do You Love Me // Sent by DanielKennedy111
TSC 362 - 1st place, 120 points (10 points given)

I remember first hearing this and being unsure whether TSC would respond to it. I'm glad we did. Why Do You Love Me starts out pretty slow, but it builds and builds. The last minute is banging, and it's spectacular. I acknowledge that Charlotte fans appear to resent anyone who compares her to Billie (because it's usually meant to denigrate Charlotte as an artist), but Why Do You Love Me sounds like a more poppy version of Billie's music, hence why I probably like it so much.

10. Georgia - About Work The Dancefloor // Sent by Fritzyyyyy
TSC 346 - 4th place, 114 points (8 points given)

I will never get over certain users thinking this song was no good... I'm looking at you Rick Yan. I'm still not over this song. It has seriously aged so well. I think that's a testament to how timeless of a sound 80's-inspired synth pop is. I feel like I'm ascending to heaven during the last chorus.

9. Mahmood - Barrio // Sent by Fritzyyyyy
TSC 379 - 1st place, 110 points (12 points given)

One of the latest TSC winners cracking my top ten was a no brainer. If there's one thing I'm thankful for about 2019, it's Mahmood. His story is spectacular. To see how far he's come since being disparaged by Italy's right-wing government following his "controversial" San Remo win is inspirational. He nearly won Eurovision, and went on to become arguably one of the biggest ~international stars~ of 2019 on Spotify (a girl on the annual 'Americans react to Eurovision' video literally knew Soldi). Mahmood is writing songs for nearly every Italian artist, and is releasing killer tracks of his own. He's THAT bitch. I could have easily put Barrio higher, but the eight songs ranked above it have meant a lot more to me in 2019, so this is as high as I could realistically put it.
