My thoughts/favourites from a couple of the national finals.
Estonia
This year's Eesti Laul feels quite up in the air because there's no one standout track. There's a few songs that I enjoy though I'm unsure if most of them are fitting for Eurovision (ie. Johanna's song which I really like but probably wouldn't do well). Of my favourites I think Victor Crone could see the most success at Eurovision though I'm unsure if a Swede can win in Estonia.
Hungary
I haven't heard all the A Dal songs yet though I've listened to most of the big names/favourites. I tend to gravitate toward unconventional-sounding songs in Hungary and this year is no exception. I really dig Leander Kills' song, especially when it picks up with the guitars. I was expecting rock/heavy metal from them again but their song gives me Meggyfa vibes from last year which I'm obviously into. This might finally be their year.
Spain
There is only one choice: M U E R D E M E!! I won't accept anything else.
Romania
The Romanian selection is mostly mediocre. I think the two wildcards (Bella and Linda) have emerged as my favourites. I can admit that Bella's song is trying to be Fuego, but I think it has potential if properly revamped (it needs more instrumentation and a better drop).
France
What I think doesn't really matter because Roi is clearly winning. I think Roi is actually quite good so I don't get all the hate for it from non-French fans. However, Roi appears to be more overrated/hyped than Mercy was this time last year which probably doesn't bode well for its chances.
Ugh Muerdeme is a bop I cant wait for the full version and for Maria to absolutely crush everyone else in the final
Also agree about Roi. I saw a tweet saying it screams 23rd place in the final and that seems like the direction that song will probably go in :)) I really wish On Cherche Encore stood a chance though
