Now that Eurovision national final season is completely upon us, I'm going to dedicate the next few days/weeks blogging a ranking and review for each country's approaching national final.
Next up is Slovenia.

Not a terrible selection from Slovenia but a bit underwhelming compared to last year where I loved Zazarim, Heart of Gold, and Fse. I just don't get how Nika Zorjan and ManuElla didn't qualify last night. I thought they were both much better than any of my bottom three.
Lara Kadis was my favourite based off the snippets, and I still have it as #1 though I don't feel as strongly about the live performance. I think her prom night look is tacky and needs to go, and her vocals aren't the best (which can be attributed to her age). The song is still my favourite but I'm not confident on its chances.
Lea Sirk's song is totally up my ally but it has a lot of hot mess potential. Ina Shai has a pretty decent ballad with good vocals and strong chorus so I like her as well.
BQL's song is such a step down from Heart of Gold last year. I don't think Ptica has a hook at all and it mostly relies on the glow-up guitar gimmick which granted, would work well given the lack of LEDs in Lisbon. I do think it might be the safest choice for Slovenia as long as it gets a revamp because I find the chorus to be exceptionally weak.
Nuska's song starts out pretty strong and I DO like it to an extent but I feel like the chorus is trying to channel Staying Alive and it just sounds really dated.
The rest of the songs are bad. Justice for ManuElla and Nika.
Who I want to win: Lara Kadis
Who I think will win: BQL
I've only listened to BQL, Nika, ManuElla and Lara. I really liked ManuElla and and Nika's songs too, and I'm surprised the public didn't vote them through. I think Lara is my favorite too, but I agree in thinking BQL will win, which in a sense I want them to since they were robbed last year but they can do so much better than Ptica - as exhibited by the bop Heart of Gold
