Semi-Final Allocation Draw thoughts

Jan 29, 2018 by Patrick319
- lol Semi 2 is a bloodbath
- RIP San Marino
- great draw for Saara. she has both Ireland and UK voting in her semi which makes up for the lack of scandis (besides Iceland)
- Semi 1 looks tailor made for Bulgaria to win if they have a strong entry like last year
- Belgium/Netherlands aren't together again (sad) but at least Armenia and Azerbaijan are <3
- RIP Poland without Ireland or UK voting their semi
- it looks like someone divided the semi-finals alphabetically lol

I think each semi has 4 most probable qualifiers.

Semi 1 - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece
Semi 2 - Australia, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine

Though Semi 2 has a lot more countries that have the potential of doing really well. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

Listen with Neon Hitch selecting San Marino’s entry, how can they lose?

I feel like every year the semis are so unproportional lol semi 1 doesn't really have many big names in it and it all depends on the song. Meanwhile, I feel like semi 2 is stacked with all the powerhouse countries that tend to deliver. However, I hate making assumptions based off this as it all depends on the quality of songs in each semi so we'll have to wait and see!

Lmao Armenia and azerbaijan always seem to end up in the same semi.

MyMilkshakes Semi 1 is great for those countries that don't always qualify as long as they send a decent entry, which is why I'm feeling hopeful for countries like Albania, Finland and Ireland. Austria and Croatia have had recent qualification streaks that could very well continue, and assuming Belgium sends something like Rhythm Inside or City Lights, they're qualifying. Semi 1 is a lot more open which makes it exciting.

Semi 2 is a lot tighter on paper. Assuming all countries that have consistently qualified make it again, there is only room for three more qualifiers. A favourite is bound to miss the final.
