about white writers/artists using the n word in their material? And I’m not really talking about musical artists cause we all know if some white person sang the n word they would be cancelled yesterday. I’m talking more about novelists, directors, etc.
For example, Quentin Tarantino writes scripts that have the n word in them dozens of times. Granted, he usually has black people saying it, but definitely not always (he said it himself on camera in Pulp Fiction.) Django Unchained was set in pre-civil war south, which necessitated the use of it because that’s what they said back then, but was it okay for him to write it in the first place?
And then of course there’s the case of Huckleberry Finn, which was written by Mark Twain (a white man) and uses it dozens of times. There’s a movement to get it banned, though it was written long, long before cancel culture and was reflecting the language used at the time.
Should these artists/books/movies be cancelled? Does context matter? If white people write the n word in a story or screenplay to reflect how a character would actually speak, is that different from saying the n word? What do y’all think?

People trying to get those books banned are literal morons lmao and the point of those novels totally flew over their head
I can’t really say bc I’m not black but IMO it’s art and is meant to portray the human experience. Just bc it isn’t the human experience for that director or writer doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be talked about or that they can’t portray it in a more accessible way for ppl. But IDK like I said I’m not black
I think it’s unnecessary. It doesn’t majorly piss me off but you can portray racism without saying it tbh. Also I can’t stand black rappers/singers who think it’s cool to use it but then expect their white fans to not copy them.
