Since I had so much time in quarantine, I listened to way more projects than usual, 40 to be exact. Most are albums, but there's 2 or 3 EPs in there so I thought it'd be fun to rank them!
#22 is.......Dedicated Side B - Carly Rae Jepsen
Highlights - I already listed why I loved Stay Away and This Love Isn't Crazy in my songs ranking series so I'll just touch on them a bit here. This Love Isn't Crazy is just a really good intro track that's full of fun production, a catchy chorus, and fun vocals from Carly Rae! Stay Away.....I'm fucking OBSESSED with the production on this song, especially that in the chorus. It's kinda ominous and mysterious in the chorus...I don't know why I get that vibe, but I do and I love it. Also the verses are actually a great contrast and Carly shows really nice vocals in them. Solo is honestly also a highlight. I don't listen to it really, but I keep it on when it comes on because it's just pure fun.
Lowlights - I'm gonna preface this by saying that I actually don't think there are any bad songs on this album and I highly recommend it for any fans of Carly Rae Jepsen that haven't listened to it yet. That being said, I'm not a fan of CRJ and only listened to this cause of the good reviews I heard for it. I'm happy I did cause I got some bops out of it, but Carly's style isn't really for me more times than not, hence why, although she placed two songs on my top 100 of the year, both were within the first 15 cuts. Now I Don't Hate California After All and This Is What They Say are both just, simply, not my style whatsoever and I just couldn't care for them, their productions, or Carly's vocals. NIDHCAA is wayyyyyyy too long and just gets boring eventually. This Is What They Say has some of the worst production, in my opinion, on the album. I don't know, it just gives me Kylie Minogue Disco vibes, which, as you can see below from my albums still in contention/cut, that got cut early because it's not my vibe whatsoever.
