Since I had so much time in quarantine, I listened to way more projects than usual, 40 to be exact. Most are albums, but there's 2 or 3 EPs in there so I thought it'd be fun to rank them!
#30 is.......Chromatica - Lady Gaga
Highlights - I've already talked about both of them in my 2020 song ranking, but Rain On Me and Replay are definitely the highlights. Rain On Me is honestly one of my favorite all-time female collaborations and then Replay is just a fun bop that has great production backing up Gaga's vocals. Aside from that, Stupid Love is a fun single that flopped and, if I'm in the right mood, Babylon is great and lets me live out my Madonna Vogue fantasy! Literally I love Gaga's vocals in Babylon!
Lowlights - Sour Candy is trash just cause of the feature. I just hate k-pop so I came in with an open mind, but the second BLACKPINK opened their mouths, I was like 'nope'. Plastic Doll is just an annoying song in my opinion. The lyrics are so...uninspired and lackluster and cringey. The production is annoying. Gaga's vocals, although usually amazing, are actively annoying in this song. It's so bad. My least favorite song, though, is easily 911. Cannot believe this became a single but I'm so happy it flopped! The interlude leading into this song? Chef's kiss! The song? Ew. Once again, the lyrics are so bad. "My biggest enemy is me pop a 911" is an annoying line and she repeats it the exact same way with lackluster effort, like, 5 times in the chorus. The production goes no where and is low energy and blah to begin with. Gaga's vocals are just blegh. The lack of effort in this song annoys me cause the song is literally called 911...like it should not be this lackluster. This album was full of disappointments, though, like Fun Tonight had potential to be an amazing song. The build is amazing and is why it's in light green, but right when you think the build is gonna get somewhere, it collapses into the most disappointing line ever: "I'm not having fun tonight".
