Since I had so much time in quarantine, I listened to way more projects than usual, 40 to be exact. Most are albums, but there's 2 or 3 EPs in there so I thought it'd be fun to rank them!
#31 is.......Walls - Louis Tomlinson
Highlights - You won't be seeing it on my year-end rank cause it came out in 2019, but Kill My Mind is one of the best opening tracks of 2020! I don't know if I'll listen to any Louis outside of this album, but when Louis continues his discography, he needs to create more songs with this sound! It's so good! It's kind of nostalgic. Like you can tell it's modern, but it takes some stuff from the past and that makes it so much better and sound like a bit of a throwback. Also that chorus is just soooo good! Out of all the 2019 songs I discovered in 2020, this is one of the best, if not, the best. Seriously check it out! Had low expectations for Louis, but this song is perfection!
Lowlights - I went back and forth on whether to have this above or below Confetti since they scored the same. I put this above Confetti not only for it's higher highlight, but also cause it's lowlights aren't as bad as Confetti's. The main issue I have with this album is, outside of Kill My Mind, a lot of the songs just sound the same which, at first, is fine and it's good, but it gets old quickly. Near the end, the album started getting better and standing out more, but the middle of this album drags. Too Young and Two Of Us were the songs that didn't do it for me. With Two Of Us being a single, I expected more, but I was just bored. The lyrics obviously were meaningful but I felt nothing. I was just bored throughout the entire song. Actually, that's the same critique I have for Too Young. I was just bored of the song. I have it above Two Of Us cause the production was a little livelier, but it still suffers from just being bored of it. I've heard 389281029 versions of Too Young and Two Of Us and there are a ton of better versions than Louis's songs.
