Since I had so much time in quarantine, I listened to way more projects than usual, 40 to be exact. Most are albums, but there's 2 or 3 EPs in there so I thought it'd be fun to rank them!
#34 is.......Manic - Halsey
Highlights - Not to spoil my top 100 songs of 2020, but 3am is one of the best songs of 2020 hands down and, dare I say, quite possibly the best rock-esque song of 2020? It's just pure excellence! Everything flows so smoothly and it hits hard and Halsey sounds amazing and it doesn't lose any momentum for a single second. It just keeps growing as the song goes on and it's literally a song I could see being my favorite of her entire discography when I listen through all her stuff. Without You is an iconic song from 2018, but everyone knows that. There's a reason it was one of the most successful songs of the 2010s and probably the most successful song so far in Halsey's career by far! Forever... is great too and holy fuck Finally // beautiful stranger is growing on me still to this day and is great! Dominic's Interlude is one of the best interludes of 2020, and You should be sad is a song that's actually grown on me post-single hype. When it was a single, I was eh on it, but it's a slow grower and might rise some more.
Lowlights - I kept the interludes in my ranking cause Dominic's Interlude is sooooo fucking good, but the other two rankings are so fucking bad. Unfortunately whereas Dominic's is only a minute, the two I hate are 2+ minutes. I love Alanis but she hurts my ears on her interlude. SUGA...I fucking hate BTS. They're untalented, their stans are the most annoying, volatile, and immature standom on the face of the planet, and their songs suck.....yet SUGA from BTS decided to break off and ruin a couple songs for me this year. He ruined a song on MAX's album and a song on Halsey's. He just sucks. clementine, though, is my least favorite on the album which I feel might be a hot take...and that's so sad cause this song does have potential but I physically cannot listen to it because Halsey yelling the lyrics behind the actual track is one of the most annoying things I've ever heard in my life and ruins the entire song for me. I feel like I might've underrated this album a little bit, but honestly, if I wasn't going off of statistical score, I'd only place this album a couple spots higher so eh. Halsey got upset at the pitchfork review, but I mean...this is a meh album. Spots of greatness, but also spots of horribleness...too inconsistent.
