Halloween series ranked

I saw Codyy do it and I wanna express my opinions.

11 - Halloween Resurrection (2002) - Hot boo boo mess that was a spec script turned into a Halloween movie by Harvey fucking Weinstein...ew

10 - Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009) - I actually find at least something to enjoy about every other Halloween movie at this point and what I like about this one is Danielle Harris and Brad Dourif. They have good chemistry in a movie full of horrendous characters and watching him feel so destroyed after Annie's death is so depressing. Outside of that, this movie is a mess and hard to watch cause everyone sucks.

9 - Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007) - I like this one. I thought it was a different approach to the series but like H2 I have issues watching it because its just so uncomfortable. No one is a good person and the dialogue is kind of attrocious. I'll watch it from time to time though.

8 - Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) - My first Halloween movie! I watched this when I was 6 and I didnt see the issues with it but looking back there are definite issues. I don't hate Tina as much as everyone else but she definitely was not a good replacement Rachel. Speaking of Rachel, bitch was so robbed its not even funny. Danielle Harris kills it but the choice to make her mute for an hour was a...choice. There are other issues that shine but I wont get into them. The tower farm car chase though is iconic.

7 - Halloween (2018) - I actually had this higher in previous rankings but after some analysis I do have some issues with it. For one, the more I watch it, the more I dislike it. Its not entirely aging well in my opinion and I think I know why. Its a filler movie and it was most likely always planned to be a filler movie. It was there to set up Karen and Allyson for the sequels and nothing really relevant happens. Im definitely excited to see where it goes from here cause it is very entertaining but I find the others more enjoyable. James Jude Courtney kills it though as Michael and that mask is yes.

6 - Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) - I know that there are so many issues with this movie in regards of plot, killing Jamie off so early and yadda yadda. What I truly love about this movie is the atmosphere. I personally think this is the scariest feeling Halloween movie we have gotten so far and might ever get. It feels raw but it has substance not like Rob Zombies. George P. Wilbur is fucking scary as Michael in this movie and the kills are really enjoyable. The Producers Cut definitely fixes some issues of the plot but I prefer the Theatrical because of reasons listed above. I also love Alan Howarths' score. The rock elements really invest me into the movie and its probably my favourite rendition (that or 1981's H2). Ranked here though cause there are alot of issues.

5 - Halloween: H20 (1998) - Oh man there is so much that is right about this movie but a little bit that is wrong. This is probably my favourite portrayl of Laurie Strode in the series. The mix of trauma but weathering it into badassery is so well done and the dynamic between Jamie Lee Curtis and Josh Hartnett is done pretty well in my opinion. I don't ever find myself bored watching this movie as well. The last act between Michael and Laurie are some really gripping moments the series has ever had and it ended on such a high note that I just consider this to be the end of the series and I normally skip over Ressurection in rewatches. My issues with it involve the feel (it feels more like Scream then Halloween but its understandable) and the score. I love John Ottman's rendition but its frustrating that they cut so much of it in favour of Marco Beltrami's Scream score. No thank you

4 - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) - I fucking love this movie. Its wonderfully concepted, nicely filmed (love you Dean Cundey) and the score is amazing. I usually have this higher though because it really doesnt belong in this franchise despite being a movie that really resembles Halloween the day. Had this been released as a stand alone I believe it would have faired better in reception but alas, cult classic status it recieves. I refuse to skip this one every year and I always love watching it.

3 - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers - While i'm definitely not a fan of the aspect ratio change, I love this movie. It matches the pace of the original well and the characters of Jamie and Rachel are very investing to me. Both Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell did a really good job of selling foster sisters that will go to great lengths to save each other. George P. Wibur once again sells the feel of Michael Myers (even though the stature and mask is definitely off) and the kills are pretty interesting for Halloween standards. I love the shotgun kill and the truck scene. The rooftop scene is also pretty amazing!

2 - Halloween II (1981) - The only Halloween sequel that truly got the feel of the original on lock. I have issues watching the first one and not this because its just so close to the original. Taking place on the same night was a really smart idea to continue and I love the atmosphere of the hospital. The score is fucking unreal (those synths really creep me out) and the kills have such a macabre uncomfortability with them. The cinematography is wonderful (still love you Dean Cundey) and I will forever love this movie. Is it as good as the original? Of course not nothing will ever be but its really good as a straight up sequel and the best that has been made for this series personally.

1 - John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) - I mean...yeah. I dont need to explain it

I plussed even tho we disagree. I couldn't stand 6 because of the Jamie thing , it ruined the movie for me. They should have made her the center of attention , I get what you say about the movie tho. It makes sense but still.
