All of these lip syncs I enjoy alot. I dont really have any problems with any of them so here we go...
8. Alaska Vs. Phi Phi (Got to be Real) - I cannot find this version of the song they used. I could be extremely crazy in my mind but from where I hear here the original edit, the snare drum sounds so much different. On topic of the lip sync, this is really fun. Alaska brought alot of camp with her facial expressions which was pretty easy given she was wearing lil pound cake make up. Phi Phi was good too taking a catwoman approach but Alaska just had it from the start (season summed up in a nutshell).
7. Katya Vs. Detox (Step It Up) - Katya in the beginning is just hilarious! Her "Henny!" moments are amazing and while she always starts extremely strong, she gets overtaken, in this case by Detox. Her plastic (but nice ngl) ass shaking around in her amazing outfit and using her lip movement for the first time in both of her lip syncs this season, she played RuPaul up perfectly. I think Katya personally won the lip sync though but maybe thats cause I hated the outcome of what Detox chose. Should have been Roxxxy!
6. Alaska Vs. Katya Vs. Detox (If I Were Your Woman) - I said that Season 6 had the last good finale lip sync in terms of the 4 or 3 person way. Well, this one is good too that I forgot about. They all pulled alot of emotion and while there wasnt alot of movement (completely expected) it was the heart of the song and how badly all 3 of them wanted it. They craved it and could have all made a great case to win! It shows in this lip sync. Personally, the winner of the lip sync goes to Detox but the winner of the season in my mind goes to Katya.
5. Alaska Vs. Katya: Part 1 (Le Freak) - The songs this season were dope. This is a lip sync that I love how it was edited in terms of the music. It fit and flowed so well. Also, that bass line though. Alaska was Alaska, fun and campy which fits the disco vibe and Katya was a mermaidish queen of fun snorting it up in Studio 54, I was living. Alaskas death drop though is how I did it for like the longest time cause i aint no flexible bitch. Also, props to the queens in the back clapping and moving along to the song having a blast and doing choreo? Damn shantay everyone should stay...except Roxxxy (I dont hate her in All Stars 2 I promise I just dont think she should have lasted that long).
4. Roxxxy Vs. Tatianna (Shake it Off) - People say this underrated and while I could see that case being made like a year ago, I dont think thats the case anymore. Granted, its a great starter lip sync. Roxxxy flowed very well with the song and shook her ass everywhere. It was a great redemption arc she had in the episode. Tatianna however was the star of the night with her amazing Talent show performance and then kicking it off so well in this lip sync. Both turned it. Is it the best? No but its a very fun lip sync to start a great season off with.
3. Detox Vs. Alyssa (Tell it to my Heart) - If anything, I find this one to be the more underrated lip sync of the season. It had everything Alyssa could give and then Detox giving whatever she could with her face since it was covered up. This is a great song and I wouldnt be surprised if it made a reappearance since RuPaul loves it so much. Alyssa was splitting, doing her weird death drops, foot touching the back thingy of the stage it wss really good. Her hair got in the way of alot but still living. Detox was very enjoyable too doing all these fun moves, prancing around the stage etc. I loved the breakdown part where it calls for a run and both delivered very well with Alyssa bending backwards and Detox using her head. I love this lip sync alot.
2. Alaska Vs. Katya: Part 2 (Cherry Bomb) - Oh man. When I first saw this season, I didnt pay much attention to this lip sync I think because of how different the song was compared to the rest of the song but revisiting it, I love it so much! Katya once again started extremely strong and did an amazing split while patting her pussy it was everything but Alaska pulled out her american pride....literally, she pulled out the american fucking flag from her wig. Dafuq? I also love the kicks Alaska does in sync with the thunder claps at the end and also fell perfectly to the floor with the last one. Katya gave me Joan Jett sex appeal but Alaska gave american thunder claps lmao. In this case, I still think Katya won but maybe im biased again because it should have been ROXXXY to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Tatianna Vs. Alyssa (Shut Up and Drive) - No question. This was one of the first lip syncs I saw on youtube after seeing Call Me for the first time and I just couldnt explain what was happening. I showed this lip sync to my youth leader once and he was shook that 1. They were men and 2. How Alyssa could helicopter split like that. It was funny. I think one of the reasons I gravitate to this being the best of the season was how much these two wanted to win. When you already won the challenge, the lip sync is basically a bonus and theres nothing to lose from it. These 2 queens had everything to lose and it made it more impactful. They looked so similar and were doing extremely similar moves even down to the breakdown when they both fell to the floor in some way. It was mesmerizing. And the Carson gif will be the best reaction face in RPDR history. Its so good! Easily the most deserved double shantay in the shows history and an amazing battle between two of the biggest fan favourites the show has ever seen! Iconic from the day it aired.
Season 9...almost like season 7 in its lip syncs but some good ones none the less.
