Not the most prevailant in lip syncs but not all of them are bad.
12. Violet Vs. Pearl Vs. Ginger Vs. Kennedy (Born Naked) - Basically all the 4 people lip syncs at this point are filler, unforgettable and insufficient.
11. Pearl Vs. Miss Fame (Really Dont Care) - Oh god no. Please no. I felt so bad for Demi since she had to watch that trainwreck. Pearl was an aggressive robot mess and Miss Fame looked like she wanted to pass out by how bored she looked and unemotional. Its surprising that i say Fame is the unemotional one when Pearl was a fucking robot! That just says something right there. Ugh
10. Max Vs. Jaidynn (No More Lies) - Oddly enough, this is a song that was no where near up Max's alley yet to me, she did better? I dont know the song and the artist well so I cant make the connection with Jaidynn that Ru did but hey...its her show. Aside from that, I just found the song choice weird and the performance just boring. I liked Max's pinnochio part though.
9. Kandy Vs. Tempest (Geronimo) - I think the only reason I like this lip sync is because of the commentary with Katya and Ginger. I watch it all the time and its so funny! Between Katya calling Tempest a crab lady and Kandy a bearded Ho (Kandy Ho) and then Ginger going off that Kandy wants to kick a little kids ass with her moves, I was having a blast. The lip sync however was a mess. Tempest wss stone cold and Kandy was ok I guess. A little bit of her mouth movements was like wtf?
8. Ginger Vs. Trixie (Show Me Love) - I feel bad for Trixie cause she tries so hard in the lip syncs but just cant....and we'll see alot more of that in All Stars 3! But on this one, Ginger went around and under Trixies legs and yadda yadda. Its just eh and maybe alot of that comes down because of the runway. Its a great concept but doesnt work as a lip sync. Its hard to pull facial expressions through that but the song is pretty easy to work with so hey. Probably best it could ever get.
7. Kennedy Vs. Jasmime (I Was Gonna Cancel) - I really like the song and I dont mind the performances all too much, its just a tame lip sync and really, the entire MacBeth team should have been in the bottom. Would have been a fun mess to see them all lip sync to this!
6. Trixie Vs. Pearl (Dreaming) - This isnt a bad performance from really either of them. Pearls robotic moves was alot better than her later lip sync. It feels like she went from 1.0 to 0.5 in terms of lip syncing and I was confused! Trixie I hope wash trying to channel Blondie and she was doing a pretty good job. This could be her best lip sync shes ever done but does that say alot? A thing I also find a little weird about this lip sync is the song choice. I wonder why they chose this song from Blondie instead of Atomic or Tide is High or Heart of Glass. It just felt confusing cause with the constant drum line its a hard song to move to. But It played into Pearls game so whatevs.
5. Katya Vs. Sasha (Twist of Fate) - Oooo gurl, Katya gave me everything I wanted with her gymnastics and I was happy. Sasha gave me a confused look everytime I looked at her but I did that when she walked into the Werk Room with plastic guns...I love the song and Katyas moves were just perfect with it as well as her commentary about sweating like a hooker in church and pounding her vagina into the floor. I had a blast but the other 4 are higher than this.
4. Ginger (Sasha) Vs. Jaidynn (Tempest) (I Think We're Alone Now) - Oh man this is a messy as fuck lip sync with once again amazing commentary by Katya reagrding a messectomy and butt-fucking positions. Its a widely entertaining lip sync with a huge road kill runway and Ginger easily knocked it out of the park. Sorry Jaidynn, hopefully she had fun with Tempest behind her if you know what I mean.
3. Kandy Vs. Kasha (Lovergirl) - What an interesting song to do and both of them really pulled it off well. I enjoyed watching Kasha swirl around with her pulled up skirt and having a fun time but then Kandy arrived and did all these fast movments which looks like she breaks the camera doing them and then into the screaming part she just nailed it. This might be an extremely tame lip sync even when it aired but theres a weird magic to it that might just be the song. Really fun and entertaining lip sync especially fitting the theme of the season being Old vs. Young.
2. Kandy Vs. Jaidynn (Break Free) - An Ariana lip sync that she got to watch, she was having a blast and I completely agree with her opinion that Kandy won the lip sync. She was giving Ariana realness with her swinging ponytail. Its sad that they barely focused on her because she deserved more airtime not only with this lip sync, but her entire time on the season. Jaidynn did a really good job too and I dont have a complaint for her, I just think Kandy did better but oh well. A great lip sync especially considering what we get from the next Ariana song to appear so yeah I lived.
1. Katya Vs. Kennedy (Roar) - There wasnt a doubt in my mind where this was going. Everyone knows it. Its an extremely high point for the season and in most cases the moment alot of people remember from it and with really good reason. These two fuckers were flexible and made it show. Right off the bat, Kennedy went balistic with alot of choreo, cartwheeling into the splits, making her Davenport sister proud by jumping off the stage into a split (RIP Sahara), it was everything. Katya took a slow and empowering approach to the song and used emotion which might have not been the best thing to do in regards to going up against Kennedy but it was her approach and she still did amazing. Her cartwheel then split moment made the whole lip sync legendary and...just not a doubt in my mind this deserves number 1.
Season 8 was my first season ever of Drag Race, how does it fare? Well...
I love both those lip syncs but in terms of my criteria and alot of what ive been going off of is how balanced both performances are in a lip sync and compared to my top 3 it felt more one sided. They are really good though and entertaining as hell
