Chef Ramsay: Today is the day I hand out black jackets!
The chefs now look excited. They all want to earn a black jacket.
Chef Ramsay: Instead of awarding black jackets after a service... I’ve decided to do things differently this season. I’ll be putting you all through a series of tests and challenges... at the end of each, I’ll award a few of you with a black jacket. However... at the end of the day, one of you will NOT have a black jacket, and will be eliminated from the competition. So I want to see the best from you! Is that clear?
Everyone: Yes, chef!
Chef Ramsay: Good. Now for your first challenge... I’m going to be doing something classic. The taste it now make it challenge! I have prepared an amazing dish of my own design using mystery ingredients. Your job is to taste it and then recreate it exactly. It is ESSENTIAL that you get the protein correct. Is everyone ready?
Everyone: Yes, chef!

The chefs then begin tasting Chef Ramsay’s dish. In fact, they all have a good idea of what the dish contains.
Chef Ramsay’s dish has 5 main components... the Protein, the Starch, the Purée, the Broth, and a mystery Vegetable included in the dish.
The chefs make their dishes... and after a while, they are all ready. Chef Ramsay tastes all of them.

Courtney happily walks toward Chef Ramsay.
Chef Ramsay: Young lady... not only did you have the correct Starch, but you ABSOLUTELY NAILED every single component of the dish. Not a single thing wrong. You have quite the palate! You have truly earned this jacket. Congratulations.
Chef Ramsay then hands Courtney a black jacket.
Chef Ramsay: Now, as you’re putting this on, please take this key card and head up to the dorms, which I have turned into an amazing Black Jacket Lounge!
Courtney then takes a key card from Chef Ramsay and heads upstairs to the black jacket lounge.
Chef Ramsay: Alright... now, I will admit... I think I need to give out another black jacket. The dishes were THAT good. So... it will still be between Kinsington, Crystal and Assi. Two of the jackets behind Chef Ramsay have been turned off, and the only light is coming from the three remaining jackets.
Chef Ramsay: Four of you left... but don’t worry, I’m giving you another chance to earn a black jacket! For your second test... I have a series of baskets behind you in the kitchen. I’d like each of you to pick one of them.
The chefs pick their baskets.
Chef Ramsay: Now if you look inside... you’ll find a series of ingredients. Each of you should have different things in your baskets. I’d like you all to prepare a stunning dish using only the ingredients in your basket. I’m going to be award 2 more jackets at the end of this challenge, so your dish needs to be in the top 2 for you to win, is that clear?
Everyone: Yes, chef!
The remaining chefs then begin to cook their dishes. Eventually, they are all ready to be served.
Chef Ramsay will be judging each dish based on Creativity, Presentation, and of course... Taste.
Chef Ramsay judges each of the dishes. Here are his comments.
Vincent’s: This is an out of the box dish! It looks amazing... and it actually tastes quite nice! Maybe you just got lucky with the ingredients you were given... but you still did an amazing job!
Kinsington’s: I do wish the dish was slightly more creative... but it’s actually very delicious. You would think that the ingredients you were given wouldn’t work at first glance, so it’s impressive at how much flavor is in there. It looks stunning as well. Well done!
Crystal’s: You took a risk with this dish... but unfortunately, I don’t think it paid off. As you can see... it’s raw in the middle. It’s disappointing... because in my opinion, you got the best combination of ingredients out of all your fellow chefs. Underwhelming.
James’s: Here’s the thing... it looks incredibly sloppy... but it’s actually the tastiest dish I’ve had so far. Not very creative, but the ingredients aren’t really supposed to work. So I’m actually very surprised that this dish tastes incredible. Is it worthy of a black jacket...? This will be a tough one.

Kinsington happily walks up to Chef Ramsay.
Chef Ramsay: The dish lacked finesse, but it was ultimately delicious... and beautifully plated. That’s why I’ve decided you deserve a black jacket. Congratulations!
Kinsington then takes his Black Jacket and key card, and makes his way to the Black Jacket lounge. Courtney, Assi and Vincent all look happy to see him, some less happy than others.
-Challenge #3-
Crystal and James are the last 2 chefs competing for a black jacket. Behind Chef Ramsay, only one black jacket is lit up.
Chef Ramsay: Crystal... James... there’s only one black jacket left. For your final test... I want to see a dish that represents you on a plate. Using whatever ingredients you want, I would like you to make me a dish that completely symbolizes you throughout this competition. Whatever your vision of yourself is is something only you can show me. This is your last change to earn a black jacket... and when making my decision, I’ll be thinking about everything that’s happened in this competition. So make sure you give me an amazing dish. Is that clear?
Crystal and James: Yes, chef!
Crystal and James then cook their dishes. They are both determined to earn the last black jacket.
Eventually, they both are ready to present.
Chef Ramsay will be using the same factors as the last challenge to judge the dishes, but he will be looking mainly at taste for this one.
Chef Ramsay judges Crystal’s dish first.
Chef Ramsay: Wow... this dish looks absolutely stunning. As I taste it... I realize it’s a little dry. But it’s been seasoned beautifully. This is an incredible effort, well done.
Chef Ramsay judges James’s dish next.
Chef Ramsay: Once again... presentation could be better. However... you’ve cooked it perfectly. I think the flavor in this dish is somehow better than the flavor in your dish from the last challenge... this is incredible. Well done.
Chef Ramsay then calls the chefs to step forward.
Chef Ramsay: After thinking about everything that you two have done in this competition... what you’ve done in the past 2 challenges... and especially the dishes you made in this one...

Chef Ramsay: There are nights where you switch on, and there are nights when you switch off... but your cooking has always had great flavor. And that’s why I’m giving you the final black jacket.
James looks like he’s about to cry.
James: Thank you so much, chef.
Chef Ramsay: Well done! Now please put on your new black jacket and join your fellow chefs.
James then takes his black jacket and key card, and joins the other chefs up in the Black Jacket lounge. The other chefs look delighted to see him.
Crystal is now the only chef in the dining room, and has failed to earn a black jacket.
Chef Ramsay: Crystal... you have truly been one hell of a competitor. While you may not have earned a black jacket, you should still be extremely proud of yourself. It was incredibly close in that last challenge! However... I do know that you are not ready to become my next Head Chef. Please give me your jacket.
Crystal takes her jacket off and hands it to Chef Ramsay. She thanks him for the opportunity she’s been given, gives him a hug, and leaves Hell’s Kitchen.
Chef Ramsay then joins the black jackets in their lounge.
Chef Ramsay: I would like to personally congratulate all of you! One of you five is going to become my next Head Chef... and from here, the challenges are only going to get tougher. But for now... enjoy the moment! All five of you are incredibly talented chefs, and you deserve this!
The chefs then spend the rest of the day celebrating their new attire.
As they’re celebrating, Chef Ramsay’s voice can be heard narrating the scene.
“Crystals are usually supposed to shine. But tonight, when she needed to shine the most, Crystal unfortunately couldn’t, so I knew it was time to say goodbye.”
Crystal’s jacket is then shown being hung, and her picture burns up.
