Eurovision 2020 - Favorite National Final Songs

May 15, 2020 by MyMilkshakes
Well, I really feel like this national selection year was really strong, but a lot of my favorites continuously lost. It was eerily reminiscent to 2017 where my favorites literally lost every selection. However, I still really enjoyed a lot of the songs that did end up winning, and it was great that I got to discover the following songs and artists from their national selections. I'll write a little something on each of my 3 favorites, and then I'll have a ranking of my top 10 favorites on the bottom!!

Lucy by Lake Malawi

Okay, I would apologize for this but I literally love Albert and Lake Malawi so much, especially after they ended up in my top 5 last year. I really didn't need to see Albert back at Eurovision so soon, but I just love this song so much and I couldn't help but support it. It's just so catchy and so fun and Albert is just able to sell any song with his charisma and stage presence. This probably would've been in my top 5 and my favorite Polish entry since My Słowianie. I really hope Albert/Lake Malawi try and come back again in the future though with more bops like this.

Cicciolina by Erika Vikman

The definition of iconic and show-stopping. I knew the second this song started that I was going to love it, and love it I did. I still listen to this song so much because it's a banger. The live performance is also perfect and I can't believe Finland passed up on the chance to send an iconic dance track in Finnish with a fantastic stage show. I need Erika on the Eurovision stage in the future, preferably as soon as possible.

Bulletproof by Dotter

To the surprise of absolutely no one, I was fully on the Dotterdam bandwagon this year. I loved Cry in 2018 so when I saw Dotter's name I was expecting something great, but this just blew me away. The song is fantastic, the live performance was breathtaking and it's just a perfectly crafted song. The Melfest voting was one of the most suspenseful moments of my life, and when I realized that Dotter lost by a single point I was crushed (just like when ACE WILDER was ROBBED in 2014). However, I know that Dotter will come back again and will crush the competition just like she did this year, and I will be anxiously awaiting her return until then. This also 100% would have been my winner this year. It's still my most played song out of all of the Eurovision 2020 entries and is just in a different league.
