Eurovision 2018 Semi Final 2 Predictions

May 9, 2018 by MyMilkshakes
Since Semi Final 1 of Eurovision is tomorrow, I have decided to make a prediction on what I think will happen tomorrow! While this semi is significantly weaker than semi 1, I still think a lot of the qualifiers are up in the air with a lot of borderline qualifiers being in this semi, so it'll be very exciting to see what happens!!

1. Norway
That's How You Write a Song by Alexander Rybak
Chance of qualifying - 100%
A very upbeat opener. Many people still remember Rybak, and he's still just as charismatic as he was before. The song is also very catchy and memorable, which will help this sail through

2. Romania
Goodbye by The Humans
Chance of qualifying - 55%
While the song is a bit subpar for Romanian standards, I really think the staging elevates this. Along with the fact that they have some friends in this semi, I feel like they'll be able to keep their perfect qualification

3. Serbia
Nova Deca by Sanja Ilić & Balkanika
Chance of qualifying - 30%
While this semi is Balkan heavy, the staging is just way too messy and this will be forgotten by the end of the night

4. San Marino
Who We Are by Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening
Chance of qualifying - 20%
Only thing going for this song is the robots with the hilarious cue cards. Dated song and underwhelming performance will possibly lead to the second last place for San Marino in a row

5. Denmark
Higher Ground by Rasmussen
Chance of qualifying - 60%
Although I hate this song, I feel like a lot of people view it as 'epic' and the performance seems very nice and polished, which I think will allow this to qualify

6. Russia
I Won't Break by Julia Samoylova
Chance of qualifying - 45%
Only thing going for this is the name 'Russia.' Horrible vocals, generic song and a lackluster performance. Doesn't deserve to qualify, and I honestly don't think it will after we saw what happened with other ex-USSRs yesterday

7. Moldova
My Lucky Day by DoReDoS
Chance of qualifying - 90%
While this song is dated, you can't fault their fantastic performance and the great vocals in the song. Should be able to sail through

8. Netherlands
Outlaw in 'Em by Waylon
Chance of qualifying - 60%
I highly doubt many Europeans are country music fans, however, those who do like this type of music will vote for him. His vocals are always spot on too which should help this qualify

9. Australia
We Got Love by Jessica Mauboy
Chance of qualifying -100%
While the stage show was a bit of a let down, the juries always gravitate towards Australia. The song is also extremely catchy and Jessica is a great vocalist, which should help this qualify

10. Georgia
For You by Iriao
Chance of qualifying - 30%
Fantastic harmonies, but a very basic song that I doubt will impact anyone enough in Europe to vote for it

11. Poland
Light Me Up by Gromee feat. Lukas Meijer
Chance of qualifying - 75%
A generic feel good pop song with solid vocals and the Polish diaspora behind it should allow Poland to continue their qualification streak

12. Malta
Taboo by Christabelle
Chance of qualifying - 55%
Christabelle has a great performance and great vocals, but the songs lyrics are very subpar. I could see this getting forgotten in favor of other pop songs in the semi

13. Hungary
Viszlát nyár by AWS
Chance of qualifying - 85%
Unlike anything else in the competition this year, which will really allow this one to stand out and receive a lot of votes

14. Latvia
Funny Girl by Laura Rizzotto
Chance of qualifying - 45%
A very middle of the road song and performance. While very solid, this will likely be lost by the time voting starts

15. Sweden
Dance You Off by Benjamin Ingrosso
Chance of qualifying - 100%
No questions here. Benjamin constantly delivers with his great stage show and charismatic personality which should allow this to sail through

16. Montenegro
Inje by Vanja Radovanović
Chance of qualifying - 50%
I feel as if Montenegro is the most likely ex-Yugoslav to qualify, but still won't make it. His vocals and staging are great, and Balkan ballads always do decent, but I don't think this is high impact enough to qualify

17. Slovenia
Hvala, Ne! by Lea Sirk
Chance of qualifying - 45%
A BOP!! Really hope this qualifies, as it blends some ethno vibes with an iconic performance and chorus. However, I fear that voters and the juries could be put off and not vote for this

18. Ukraine
Under the Ladder by Mélovin
Chance of qualifying - 100%
A fantastic closer, vocalist, performance and everything. Should easily sail through

1. Norway
2. Ukraine
3. Sweden
4. Australia
5. Moldova
6. Hungary
7. Poland
8. Netherlands
9. Denmark
10. Romania
---------------------------
11. Malta
12. Montenegro
13. Russia
14. Slovenia
15. Latvia
16. Georgia
17. Serbia
18. San Marino

I'm not sold on Romania either, especially as they're going 2nd, but I feel like they're more likely than the others to get random votes due to their diaspora. Personally really hoping Slovenia qualifies too!!
