How WWE Should Have Booked ECW 2006

Nov 2, 2017 by MrSparkly69
imageHello, I am Sparkly and this is How WWE Should Have Booked where I take an angle from the past and book it better because I'm a smartass. *ding* Today we are going to re-book the 2006 version of ECW.
First of all, don't have this kind of thing advertised on WWE TV. If you want to show off ECW as an edgy alternative, it shouldn't be marketed as a big 3rd brand. So, instead, have WWE announce a legends PPV called WWE Eternals. When the show broadcasts, have a nice little show load, and then, static... Then slowly fade the static to show the ECW One Night Stand logo. And it eminates from the classic ECW arena. Go all out for this show. Have a barbed wire deathmatch of Terry Funk vs Sabu, even bring in some "rebellion" WWE guys to say that they hate the corporate of Vince McMahon, they are rebellious, like ECW. Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match for the TV Title is a fun-sounding match. And a huge main event of Tazz vs Sandman in an Extreme Rules match for the ECW World Title. I would have Tazz win that one, and after the match, we cut back to WWE Eternals, basically showing Hogan vs Flair's finishing moves, and cut to black.
The next night, RAW happens. Vince walks out and says "We were respecting the legends of this great business... until Paul Heyman and his goons totally ruined it all..." Then he looks real close in the camera and says, "This... means... war..." Later on in the night, we see lots of ECW. Sabu attacks Rob Van Dam after he fights for the IC Title. Kurt Angle destroys Umaga with the TV Title. Dudleyz return to annihilate the Spirit Squad (yes, all 4.) And in the main event, Tazz attacks John Cena with 10, count them, 10 german suplexes. This will lead up to WWE vs ECW: Bragging Rights, with a main event of a 7 on 7 of WWE vs ECW. That 7 on 7 would be WWE: John Cena, Edge, Rob Van Dam and the Spirit Squad and ECW: Tazz, Sandman, Dudleyz, Angle, Sabu... and a returning Chris Jericho.
Now, hold on, hold on. I know we have slight problems with this. First of all, Jericho has been gone since Summerslam of the previous year at this point, and is busy with his band. However, if you can, bring back Jericho for this big angle and keep him in until Summerslam.
The match ends with 2-1, WWE leading. Many think this is about to be it. Cena and Van Dam lead on Jericho, and Cena is hyping up an AA. Suddenly, we hear the Brooklyn Brawler's theme. The Brawler sneaks out of the crowd and hits Cena with a pipe. Jericho hits a lionsault for the 123. Van Dam looks like he's gonna capitalize, but Jericho ducks a Van Daminator and rolls up RVD and barely gets a 3. Jericho manages to get it for ECW, as the rest of the ECW guys join him in the ring.
The next night, we tune in to ECW Wrestling. And it's just like the old days. Small arena, simple production, and quite simplistic. It kicks off with Chris Jericho. He comes out to his old ECW theme. He says "I was misrepresented by the corporate bitches of WWE, so it was time to go back to my roots, go... to the extreme." Suddenly, WABBLE DO, DO DO DO DOOOOOO- Out comes John Cena. He says "You're a great wrestler, old-school, and I respect that... but you cheating to win with your little brawler is what I totally despise about your ass." Suddenly, the Brooklyn Brawler theme hits and he walks to the ring, Yankees jersey and all. Brawler looks like he's gonna hit Cena, but he ducks and Brawler hits Jericho. Due to this, Tazz thought the Brawler was disrespecting ECW and they were set to have a match at ECW: Guilty as Charged, the final PPV before Summerslam. Surprisingly, I would have the Brawler win this one, but via countout, so he doesn't win the ECW Title. And, the final thing I am going to book, Summerslam. Now I should probably do more, but I frankly don't have the time, and a couple of months to get traction seems good. So here's the card and their winners, and I will go in detail once you see. I will say that there are 7 matches, 3 WWE matches, 3 ECW matches, and 1 cross-brand.

Kurt Angle vs Terry Funk, Falls Count Anywhere, TV Title, Winner: Funk

Spirit Squad vs Dudleyz, WWECW Unified Tag Title Match, Winners: Dudleyz

Chris Jericho vs Tajiri, Winner: Jericho
Note: Afterward, Jericho is attacked by DX's return, writing Jericho off for a while.

Finlay vs Mr. Kennedy, WWE US Title, Winner: Kennedy

Cena vs HHH, WWE Title, Winner: HHH

Tazz vs Mysterio, ECW Title, Winner: Mysterio

OK, let's go in-depth. First off, Angle can go pretty hardcore at times, and Funk is the king of hardcore, so I would have FCA be a perfect match type, and have it end outside the arena.
Unifying the tag titles sounds bold, but having 3 different tag belts is confusing, so 1 pair for London & Kendrick, and the other pair for the legendary Dudleyz to carry on RAW and ECW both.
Jericho vs Tajiri could be a really fast-paced highflying match, which is what it should be, and since you can't keep Jericho for too long (he is a busy man) write him off after DX attack him, this brings him back in 2007 for a feud with Shawn Michaels, almost perfectly like real life.
Kennedy vs Finlay is filler... that's it...
Cena vs Triple H seems good to me. First of all, let's say Triple H comes back just before Summerslam, and this way you can finally get the original plan for Mania 22. John Cena vs Triple H for the WWE Championship. Have Triple H win with help from HBK, and have DX challenge Dudleyz to give that title more meaning.
And the main event... Mysterio, the underdog, takes out the monster, Tazz, for the big bloody gold. You can build big matches for ECW. Mysterio vs Van Dam, Mysterio vs Sabu, and many, many more.
And that is how I would have booked it, would you have done it better and what would you want next, let me know in the comments, and I'll see you soon.
