1x5: "#GetADate"
It's the midseason winter finale, and for Degrassi, that me as it's time for the winter formal.
Many people pressure Brooklyn to ask Aaron to the formal, and Jessi leads this charge in order to make sure her cover isn't blown. Brooklyn tragically agrees and with the help of Jessi, creates an extravagant proposal to Aaron, who embarrassingly agrees. Brooklyn later sobs by the lockers, hating the position he was put in. Destiny stumbles upon Brooklyn and tries to cheer him up. Brooklyn admires Destiny and develops feelings for her, but hurts inside that he can't ask her to the formal.
Jillian protests the idea of the formal, suggesting it's an excuse for students to get drunk at school and grind on each other. Jillian starts a campaign to end the prom, and an admiring Conner offers to help get it shut down. Jillian and Conner start a petition, but after it gets vandalized, Jillian realizes she has to get the administration's support. Jillian plans to plant a flask in a students locker, in order to tattle on them and have the school board realize alcohol abuse. Conner refuses, saying that he didn't join to lie, he joined to fight for a cause. Jillian ignores him and goes through with the plan, and it almost works as a student gets caught with it, but Conner reveals the truth that Jillian planted it. Jillian is suspended and the formal will go on.
Liam struggles to find a way to ask Josie to the formal that would impress her. Liam stumbles upon the soccer team, and comes up with a perfect idea. Liam bargains with Ashton and Jerome to help him, but they refuse to help unless he joins the soccer team. Liam reluctantly agrees if it means impressing Josie. After school, the entire field is set up, fresh snow placed on the grass. Soccer balls flying over head back and forth, and Liam dressed in a suit in the goalie net. Liam waits for Josie, but panics as Jessica walks down the pathway laid out. Jessica begins to freak out, smiling and cheering and before Liam can say anything, Jessica agrees to go to the formal with him. Jessica hugs Liam, and Liam sees Josie watching, and watches her cry and run away.
Ray confides in Aaron that he has a crush on Katie Beth, but is too afraid to do anything. Aaron suggests that Ray ask her to the winter formal, and that Aaron would talk him up to Katie Beth. Later, Aaron tells Katie Beth all this wonderful stuff about Ray and how he is such a good friend. Katie Beth listens in awe to Aaron talk about Ray. Later, Ray talks to Katie Beth, and Katie Beth tells Ray all the things Aaron said about him. Ray small talks Katie Beth, getting ready to ask her out. As he is about to ask her to the formal, Katie Beth tells Ray about her crush on Aaron, which destroys Ray's feelings and crushes his heart.
The dance goes smoothly, everyone is having a blast, and Jillian swears her revenge!
