The Game

Dec 9, 2014 by Maviel
"I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution."

This quote could not be more right. The funny thing about being acutely aware of your own existence is that eventually you start to question what its purpose is. Why are we here? Well, even if there is an explanation, it hardly matters. We are alone in our universe, at least for the time being. Our lives are short, pitiful, and without meaning. The only thing that is true is the game.

What game? Survivor. Game of Thrones. Life. It's all the same fucking game. A bunch of assholes lying to each other, killing each other, and taking what they want without leaving anything for anybody else. All for what? Power, usually. Not always. Sometimes it's just thrill-seeking, maybe greed. But it's almost always for power. Control over other human beings. The game is always going on. Everybody's playing. Starving children in third-world countries never had a fair shot at playing the game. They just get pushed to the side to die, taken to a sweatshop somewhere, or recruited into some warlord's army. The so-called "average" cunts like you and I have a better shot at playing. Middle class assholes with a relatively decent education living in the Western world. Capitalism is a ladder to the top, but if you don't have the starting capital, you're probably going to be stuck as a middle-class piece of shit or fall down into true poverty.

People born into wealth, people who get lucky, and people who have an insatiable lust for power as well as the skill to obtain it are the real players in this game. They will fuck you over faster than you would imagine and have fun doing it. The Russell Hantzes and Petyr Baelishes of this world. Sociopathic monsters that have little-to-no regard for human life. The are experts at this game, especially if they were born into it. Old, wealthy families teach their children how to politick and rule people. They have to, if they want to ensure the survival of their dynasty. And that's exactly what they are. Modern dynasties of wealth and power. They silently rule our world, quelling those who openly dissent.

We all know what the prize is. In Survivor, the winner gets a million dollars while everybody else doesn't make nearly as much. In Game of Thrones it's the power to rule the kingdom. Everybody's after it. Almost everybody will fail. In real life it's money and power. The ability to wipe your enemies from the face of the planet at the push of a button. The ability to control entire armies to invade whichever countries you choose to protect your corporate interests, all under the flag of "Freedom" and "Democracy".

We all know it's bullshit. I doubt I'm telling you anything you don't already know. So then why am I writing this? I dunno. Bored I guess. The game is all there is. It exists on every level of life. High school is the same game. College, the workforce, interacting with friends and family. Who honestly is 100% true to anybody? How would you feel if somebody knew your deepest, darkest secrets? We put on these masks to disguise our true selves from the world. Imagine what people would think if they knew who you really were. We manipulate to get what we want.

To conclude, yes, I realize this was a clusterfuck. There's no real flow to the writing. Fuck it. The game is all there is. Don't be afraid to play it. And respect the game. Respect those who win. Even though they're all a bunch of assholes who are destroying our world as we speak. The game always picks a winner. A lot of luck is involved, but the rules are more-or-less the same for all of us. Sometimes you draw the wrong straw by birth or other circumstances. But fuck it. We're all gonna die soon anyway and eventually this whole fucking universe will collapse on itself. Then who's gonna give a shit?
