Spooky Scary Skeletons. Oct 29, 2018
This song shows that the humans apologize to the skeletons for misunderstanding them and forcing them to go the point of no return and haunting them during Halloween. It shows the humans might have an ounce of compassion and really care about the skeletons, even after all the horror they’ve made them sit through. They just want acceptance into the community of Skeletons but they’re not willing to accept their apology after the grief they’ve caused the humans.

Spooky scary skeletons

This line fascinating as it shows that there are not just skeletons, they are spooky and scary. The two descriptors of the skeletons show how skeletons usually have a negative connotation, usually associated with death.

Send shivers down your spine.

This represents how the skeletons are very spooky and how if you look at them for too long you could get shivers sent down your spine. This just goes to show how scary it is because getting shivers is one of the most unsettling feelings one can have. Some theorize that this song was intended for you to get shivers and unsettle your soul, which is a strong claim to why this is a Halloween song.

Shrieking skulls will shock your soul

This is an interesting jab on how it’s typically emphasized in old fashion lore, that when you die your soul stays in your skeleton and comes with you in the grave. These souls are also depicted as being able to leave with their skeleton bodies in order to shock your soul and scare you on Halloween night. It just shows that these skulls really care about your suffering, and “shocking your soul” is a perfect way to show that with 1 simple sentence. An absolute masterpiece of a line, deserves to win a oscar, almost better than Super Mario Bros 2.

Seal your doom tonight

Sealing your doom is a great way to portray that they will guarantee suffering for some poor human. This is an intricate sentence showcasing the epic writing skill of Andrew Gold really a absolute monster of a sentence. It also says “tonight” which really shows they will do it ASAP and showing their dedication to sealing their doom. They will literally come out of the grave just to seal their doom on this one fateful night and really shows the skeleton’s personality and what he’s willing to do.

Spooky scary skeletons

OH! MY! GOD! This madlad can’t stop with his intelligence, his IQ might even exceed Albert Einstein! Repeating this line is such a subtle way of showing the importance of how spooky and scary these skeletons without pushing it overboard or making it seem too forced. He has really out done himself on this repeat and just really pushed the boundary on what writing can be interpreted as and genuinely shows a new side of poetry never seen before. One of the most significant lines in history to be remember for years to come.

Speak with such a screech

This is genius because skeletons don’t have vocal cords so when they talk there voice would be very screechy. This line possibly is referencing the game undertale because sans has such an annoying text voice. The writers must have been looking into the future for this one. Just goes to show how innovative this song is and how ahead of its time it was. Literally.

You'll shake and shiver in surprise

As EVERYONE knows, When the king skeleton comes out on Halloween he blows a great wind, this is known to create a very cold sensation in people's bodies. People usually shake and shiver when they are cold. And all of the people on that night are usually very surprised with the cold weather. The man writing this is rumored to have secret ties with the king, possibly helping write this lyric itself. Is he a skeleton now? Who knows?

When you hear these zombies shriek

Skeletons are related to zombies by how spooky and scary they are. When he says: hear these zombies shriek I think he just is trying to appeal to young children because zombies are more well known, but if you look deeper I think he was actually referring to skeletons, but he didn’t want two lines just about how bad the skeletons voices are. This deep cover up not only makes perfect sense but also lets one reflect on if they will have a terrible voice when they die.

We're so sorry skeletons

This line shows that the humans apologize to the skeletons for misunderstanding them and forcing them to go the point of no return and haunting them during halloween. It shows the humans might have an ounce of compassion and really care about the skeletons, even after all the horror they’ve made them sit through. They just want acceptance into the community of Skeletons but they’re not willing to accept their apology after the grief they’ve caused the humans.

You're so misunderstood

They’re acknowledging the misunderstanding the skeletons have had to been going through for their entire life. They’re telling the skeletons that they see they’re misunderstood and willing to fix their wrong doings and are willing to change their ways. They want to fix what they’ve done wrong and it’s really showing with this one sentence to back it up. This one sentence really shows a lot about the devotion humans have to being friends with the skeleton and is a peace offering for history books to cover.

You only want to socialize

They’re now acknowledging that they also just want to socialize (not like they’re going to have a social life in the grave) They just want to make friends with the humans but they’re making them out to seem like monsters and it’s really rude. They’re just now realizing their wrong doings and they’re making a move to fix them by socializing with the skeletons more. The skeletons I’d assume given up on trying to socialize with the humans long ago. It’s quite ironic because they people who are making out the skeletons as monsters will eventually serve the same fate of being a skeleton.

But I don't think we should

The skeletons are known to be very cautious in their little lives, and they decided that not socialize with humans is the safer choice because if people knew skeletons actually were alive they would freak out, because the social norm is to just hate on skeletons. This line is the perfect cover up to conceal the skeletons secret.

But bags of bones seem so unsafe

This is plain out just disrespectful. This is quite the opposite of how society should be moving. They’re quite blatantly being skeleton-ist and are showing that they don’t want them in their community. There’s always got to be that one human that ruins it for everybody and this is him. Andrew Gold is an absolute genius for thinking of this lyrics, really smart of him to add a contradicting factor to one side of the story, showing not all people are 1 sided. It’s genius word play and definitely adds some suspense to the story

along with the perfectly curated words.

Are silly all the same

This line shows all of the prejudice that skeletons have, everyone thinks that skeletons are all the same and how they seem to have a silly face. It just goes to show you how skeleton-ist humans are to skeletons and how we must break all of the barriers for equal peace.

And drive you so insane

This line is so insanely skeleton-ist. It just shows the agenda of the bad apple humans who want to get rid of the skeletons for once and for good. Them calling the skeletons insane is a clever way of saying they don't like them and it’s wording is so perfect this one sentence could win a oscar just on how perfect it is. Them saying they drive him insane is the perfect way of saying that they’re annoying just because they’re skeletons. As said in previous lyrics, they only want to socialize but they aren’t letting them, and instead decide to be skeleton-ist.

Spooky scary skeletons

This just re-emphasizes all of the skeleton lore and facts we just went over, to wrap things up in a way that keeps things all together so beautifully, as one of the songs last lines it is one of the best recaps I have heard in years. Just three words can send you on such a journey.

Will wake you with a boo!

This ending could not be any more perfect. Do you remember in Avengers Infinity war when Thanos snaps his fingers and half the Avengers disappear? Lame compared to this one line. I would read this one sentence over watch all of Infinity war. Oh and spoilers. This just shows that they will wake all the humans with a boo just because of those few bad apples in the community. It really shows how selfish some humans can be and is genuinely really deep. I almost cried at the end of this piece, it just shows the story of a couple misunderstood skeletons trying to get their way in the big world full of humans. They only want to socialize but the social norm is to be skeleton-ist and it’s just disgusting. They make out skeletons to be monsters, when they’re quite the contrary, they are kind, loving bones that deserve friendship with humans and vice versa.
