Randomize does NOT like that we are simply gifting our friends rather than competing to move on. Shops is another game that he added to the website. It isn't supposed to be for making your avatar look cute. The intent was to have 6 or 8 or however many shops there are at the time all competing to sell the most and move on. He doesn't like gifting shops because that isn't the fun of the game.
Clearly I have had about 30 gifting shops so I completely agree that I would LOVE to have 1t gifting back because i didnt get my first shop until after 1t gifting was gone, but, its never gonna happen.

I mean has it changed? Not everyone is going to compete anyway. People who plan on getting gifting shops would get gifting shops regardless. So just because randomize doesn’t encourage gifting shops, it’s not gonna change the fact that the gifting shops will continue to be gifting shops. randomize if you want to encourage more public sales you can have a minimum value added even for the 3 competing shops to move on, or they won’t. So they are forced to post some for the public. For an example if the shopping game value is not 5000+ for the week they can’t move on and there will be an extra slot next week. That way you have public sales and the gifting shops also can continue with less difficulties.
No I get what you are saying but him cancelling out 1t doesn’t discourage gifting shops. It just makes it difficult but gifting shops will gift anyway. We can hope he’d change his mind about this considering this idea was suggested by a user who never had a shop.
