This is a hard one. It was certainly an intriguing plot and casting Octavia Spencer in a villain role was odd. But it's Octavia Spencer so. It worked. I liked how they gave Ma a reason for being crazy instead of just....being crazy, ya know?
However, this movie was painfully predictable. You saw every turn coming which hurt the movie a lot. They didn't try to shock the audience at all, it was very paint by numbers. The white face and dick execution wasn't expected so I guess congrats on that??
Unfortunately at some points during the movie I found myself going "god I wish this would end."
Not a bad movie but not great
Biggest Positive:
They at least tried to give Ma a backstory and not have her as some random psycho
